I can understand people wanting Saddam out of power.
I just cannot agree with taking him out of power. Yes, he
was a dictator who abused some of his people, but what
makes the Wahibi cancer throughout the middle east less of a threat
than Saddam? At least in Saddam's Iraq women were given basic human
dignity and rights. At least Saddam's ultimate goal wasn't Islamic
rule over the entire world. Saddam's Iraq was the only secular
Arab nation, if democracy was going to bloom in the Middle East
Iraq would have been the place best prepared for it. Instead
we have the administration publicly expressing that they would
accept a fundamentalist Islamic government in Iraq if it ended the
fighting. Because as we learned from Afghanistan, Fundamentalist governments result in democracy and freedom for all.
