I think it depends on how important your music is to you. If it's #1, I don't think it's unreasonable to look for that common ground in someone else. That sums up my feelings. It's a very teenaged attitude to say "I will only date someone with identical musical taste", but real world experience shows that if there's not really any overlap at all, shit can be tough, especially if it's gonna go anywhere serious.
