Some people actually just think Dimmu Borgir and Opeth have decreased in quality. I am one of them. And then some people have just always thought they sucked. Sorry.

I know what you mean about some people listening to what will 'make them cool', but on the flipside are just as many (no, MORE) rabid fanboys who will gush over a band no matter how miserable their output is/becomes because they too are striving for acceptance.

This polarity has always existed in musical opinion, it always will, and people will always listen to music until we evolve out of having ears.
