Krepuskulum: Talk to us about the band tragectory. What is the meaning of the name NIFELHEIM ?

The meaning of Nifelheim is in the old nothen mytology the meaning of an evil realm of death or simply hell. I don't care so much about the northen mythology , more about evil and death. I think it's a perfect name for our band (as we also are from sweden).

Your lyrics are very profanes, himns to darkness and hell. Do you believe in Satan ?? Are the lyrics meataphors or real rituals to evil forces?

We belive in it. our lyrics are more like metaphors because I think it's very hard to do a real ritual in music. I have never seen anyone succeed with it anyway. . It is better to do rituals in other ways I think.

In the release, NIFELHEIM declare your influences, you include Brazilian Death (it is a honour for us!!!). What are the best Brazilian bands in your opinion? Did you record a cover for a brazilian band??

We like a lot of brazilian bands as hell!! my favourites are: Vulcano!! "bloody venegance" must be one of the best black metal albums ever!!!, Sarcofago!!! do I really need to comment?!! Holocausto "campo de exterminio", Genocidio, Expulser, Mutilator, Aamonhammer, Sextrash, Ritual, Dorsal atlantica, chakal, and a lot more! I'm really impressed by the desperate rage that so many Brazilian bands capture. We recorded a cover of the Vulcano song "Witches sabbath" that was later released on a compilatin EP series called Headbangers against disco, the song is done in the real cruel way just like on the vulcano live 85 album. I personally think that we maybee were a little bit negligent when we picked it out and recorded it (because we were so drunk) but the feeling is there and all reactions from other people have been very good.

Bands like DIMMU BORGIR & CRADLE OF FILTH are the new fashion in black metal .What do you think about this bands? Do you like violins, female vocals and other stuffs?

I hate that kind of shit!!! If it isn't raw and hard it isn't Metal!!!! I don't fucking wanna hear any female vocals I want sodomizing GOAT vocals from hell!!! I wipe my ass with violins and all that sissy stuff. Fuck off to all wimp bastards that ruins the name of black metal!

Where come from the hate to compose furious songs like BLACK EVIL & THE BESTIAL AVENGER?? Talk to us about the creative process of the new opus SERVANTS OF DARKNESS.

I don't know where the hate comes from, because I have always had it in my soul. That's how it is when the dark forces are inside. Every song on "servants of darkness" has it's own creative process so it's impossible to explain everything.

What are the simbology behind the cover art of the new album ?

From the beginning there was supposed to be a very simple symbology, a huge goat standing in front of a lot of worshipping people, but when we got the painting it was just a goat so I guess there aren't so much of any symbology left. anyway we also have another version of the cover with only a lot of satanic symbols on it, to show what kind of darkness we are talking about.

Why do you use make-ups in the old style?? Are this a cult to older bands like SODOM, POSSESSED & Brazilian SARCÓFAGO???

This is something we always have had. When we first started with this stuff around 89 it was absolutely no trend in Sweden anyway! We were influenced by bands like Hellhammer, Slayer sodom, possessed and of course Sarcofago.

What are the 10 best metal albums of the history in NIFELHEIM opinion?

There is impossible to name only ten because ALL records with Iron Maiden are the best in history!!!!!!! but I can try to name some of the best in Death/Black metal.

Bathory first album, Venom "welcome to hell", Mayhem "demysteriis dom. sathanas", Vulcano "bloody venegance", Sarcofago "inri", bathory "the return", Venom "black metal", Korrozia metalla "orden satani", Sodom "obsessed by cruelty", Hellhammer "apocalyptic raids". and of course a lot more!

What is the real meaning of this sentence: "NIFELHEIM did for Metal wath GG ALLIN did for PUNK".

This is not our words but I guess the meaning is that we both did it the hard way ! but note as I said that this sentence is nothing that we ourselves have ever claimed!! We are NOT any bloody punkers or anarchists,we are death possessed black metal!
