There is no right or wrong way, it all depends on the final product/quality of musician. If you have a piss poor guitar player (not the case here by any means) reamping could very well be the worst choice you can possibly make. I personally like it when an engineer can make one stereo track sound huge and be the end of it. Not everyone has the gear and know how to do that. My votes in for the way this was recorded.
