MetalThursday said[orig][quote]
I think this is the case with a lot of the Worcester fans - they are spoiled by all the huge shows that come through here. All the big names in extreme metal play here every year and these people aren't as motivated to seek out or participate in anything smaller & local. They're sitting at home on myspace bragging about how they just saw Dimmu Borgir at The Palladium for the 15th time and posting pictures of themselves in their new Behemoth tour shirts with captions like "i'm so fucking metal". Metal Thursdays do just fine now, but I think those and even the odd Lucky Dog show with a real metal lineup would do much better if that wasn't the case.

I agree. Usually, after there is a good show at the Palladium, a lot of people tell me they're too broke to attend the next Metal Thursday. Most people in Worcester are broke half the time anyway... but if you fly in a black metal or death metal band from Scandinavia, people will work 80 hour weeks for a month just to afford concert tickets, t-shirts, and truckloads of alcohol. I think most of the money goes toward the truckloads of alcohol.

I was at the band room once, and 5 people went through an entire keg, a giant bottle of Jaeger, and a bottle of wine... and only 1 person was actually drunk. Everyone else was pissed off because there wasn't enough booze. True story.

Worcester has a serious alcohol problem, especially when $2 beer at Ralph's is too expensive.
