Satanic Rites: A Tribute to Hell FMP017 Digging through CDs the other day and pulled this one back out. Fully appreeshed. This is the release that, other than first wave stuff (Venom, CF) and the first Darkthrone record (which doesn't really count) got me into all this blasphemin' and face-paintin'. (Fun fact: This was actually handed down to me by TJ, AKA Thorn from that one Vital record.) Lots of great stuff on here, some of it supposedly otherwise-unreleased. You really get a feeling of the state of things toward the end of the last decade (release date is '99). Artists are from pretty much around the world - Scandinavia and the US are well-represented, but there's also bands from Japan, (I think) South America, and most of "regular-ass, non-Viking Europe." Overall, you get a pretty solid mix of styles - mostly with good-to-passable recordings, along with a few 4-track blurs and a couple of keyboardy atmosphere tracks to spice things up. I'm really digging this all over again - lots of stuff I never bothered to track down that just made it on my want list. LOL @ Mayhem listed with no vocal credit and Grishnackh on bass, BTW. HOW'D THAT WORK OUT, GAIS??? (Tracklistings here are "song - artist" because that's how I found them listed and I'm not fixing it.) Disc 1: 01. Initiation Into The Mysteries Of Death Omens - The Thrill 02. Eriaminell - Mysticum 03. Of Purest Fire - Centurian 04. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas - Mayhem 05. Grudge Of Dannoura - Tyrant 06. Ritual In Blood - Outbreak 07. Twelfth Rising - Naglfar 08. Claws Of Death - Swordmaster 09. The Descent - A.S.H. 10. Summoned Howling - Mastiphal 11. At The World Of Antrodden - Thy Primordial 12. Mourns A Lenghening Shadow - Black Funeral 13. Storm In The Darkness - Labei Ritual 14. Reign Of Death - Hemlock 15. The Horns Of Sacrifice - Ever Dark 16. The Return - Soul Reaper Disc 2: 01. Omnia In Majorem Diaboli Gloriam - Apollyon 02. Ageis And The Sword - Algain 03. Awaken Chaos - Sacramentum 04. In The Ashes Of Civilization - Indungeon 05. The Acheron -Battlelust 06. Tunes Toward Empyrean - Tartaros 07. Storm - Darzamat 08. To Burn The Kingdom Of God - Diaboli 09. The Hordes Of Satan - Thy Infernal 10. Desert Pentagram - Melechesh 11. Black Of The Mighty Ones - Lord of Depression 12. Serpentine Moon - Mortify 13. Blasphemic Beasts Convoked - Goddess Of Desire 14. Under Spread Wings Of Eternal Darkness - Haimad 15. Masque - Burning Inside 16. Evil Dead - Acheron :nuke:
