the fuel filter is usually an inline filter somewhere near the carb/throttle body or underneath in the fuel line behind the front or rear passenger tire. just follow the fuel line from the tank back up into the engine you will see where it unscrews to replace the filter. fuel filters basicly resemble tampons and cost about 2 bucks.

my first car was an 84 monte carlo and i pretty much replaced everything in the entire car.
