Rangel is against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and is basically doing this as a publicity stunt to "call the bluff" as it were of the politicians who support those wars and the members of the citizenry who are apathetic, the idea being that if you or your children are actually subject to the draft you'll think twice about voting republican or some shit. i think what he actually said was something like it was going to make voting congresspersons less likely to put their own offspring in harms way but im sure anyone whose passed 9th grade history is skeptical of that P.S. not supporting or attacking the guy, just adding my two cents based on what ive read regarding this.
