Shit, unintentional Qik Reply!

It was bad enough that we couldn't stand democracy in the country, but then the ruling juntas we sponsored over the next decade or so just couldn't get excited enough about "pacification" of the populace, particularly those who had dared to participate in the brief democratic state of the 40's and early 50's. "Fortunately", spooks and "military advisers" were by the mid-60's developing some handy repressive assassination squads in Vietnam, and were able to build up similar programs in Central America... Though of course, unlike the infamous Phoenix Program in Vietnam, the death squads in Guatemala were on the winning side and lasted a hell of a lot longer.
