I actually gave Scott a bunch of zircon crystals in exchange for some shirts and bumper stickers, probably around 2007/2008. I did some work in a radiogenic isotope lab that mainly dates zircons - they have a Zircon demo that they play to impress visiting scientists. Eating zircons is a really bad idea as zircon is highly enriched in uranium and is very radioactive. There are zircon mines in Africa where people sleep next to piles of giant zircons that they separate from gravel deposits and it's basically equivalent to sleeping in an x-ray machine. I actually have a bag of zircons from the same batch I gave to Scott - funny to think that my decision to keep these guys saved them from traversing his digestive tract and anus (if they're the same ones).
