NH man accused of racist graffiti found with self-inflicted gunshot wound
Raymond Stevens of Pembroke remains at Massachusetts General Hospital while police seek an arrest warrant.
The Associated Press
CONCORD, N.H. – Police are seeking a fugitive warrant for the New Hampshire man who shot himself in the head weeks after being charged with writing racist graffiti on the Concord homes of four African refugee families.
Raymond Stevens of Pembroke remains at Massachusetts General Hospital recovering from what prosecutors say was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Stevens was found in a Hopkinton cemetery Nov. 7 – his 43rd birthday.
The Merrimack County Attorney’s office Tuesday filed an application for a warrant to take Stevens into custody as a fugitive under indictment when he is released from the hospital Nov. 25. Prosecutors want him held without bond.
Stevens pleaded not guilty last month to a felony criminal mischief charge that carries a 10-30-year prison sentence because it’s considered a hate crime.
