NEBULA PREPARES TO LAUNCH ‘APOLLO’

Fourth album from Liquor and Poker Music’s flagship artist due Feb. 21

LOS ANGELES – Two and a half years after Liquor and Poker Music launched with Atomic Ritual, the acclaimed third release from L.A. power trio Nebula, the upstart rock indie comes full circle with the group’s new album Apollo. Due Feb. 21, the record is a cosmic cocktail of heavy riffs, electric blues and psychedelic space rock that demonstrates why the band has earned international (and, dare we say, universal) acclaim.

Produced by Daniel Rey (Ramones, Misfits, L7) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Mars Volta, Sonic Youth, Franz Ferdinand), and recorded mostly at Hollywood Sound Recorders (Danzig, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers), the 14-track album sees the addition of new bassist Tom Davies. It also features a bonus live video of new song “Future Days” recorded during Nebula’s Japanese tour last spring. A demo of another new track, “Lightbringer,” is currently available on the new Century Family/Hot Topic compilation Metal For The Masses Volume Four, as well as Liquor and Poker Music samplers included with the new releases by labelmates The Thieves and Fireball Ministry.

Formed in 1997 after vocalist/guitarist Eddie Glass and drummer Ruben Romano left desert rock pioneers Fu Manchu, Nebula released two acclaimed full-lengths on Sub Pop Records, along with three notable EPs, prior to signing with Liquor and Poker. During the group’s formative years, they toured with the likes of Nashville Pussy, Mudhoney, Corrosion of Conformity and The Hellacopters, among others.

Upon its release in 2003, Atomic Ritual earned mainstream acclaim from the likes of Blender (“heavier than heaven”), Entertainment Weekly (“If you’re jonesing for a fix of heavy rock at its least pretentious, you can’t do much better than this”) and Magnet (“more fun than watching a Hell’s Angels pool-cue assault in a biker bar”). True to form, the band subsequently returned to the road for several nationwide tours with artists as diverse as Mastodon, The Bellrays, Local H and Clutch.

Since finishing basic tracks for Apollo, Nebula has already done one nationwide tour (including a showcase at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City) and performed high-profile hometown gigs at ESPN’s X-Games and the annual Sunset Junction festival, the latter alongside the likes of New York Dolls, Eagles of Death Metal and Burning Brides. Expect an announcement regarding 2006 touring plans in the coming weeks.
