Unfeeling cruelty and often-uncalculating rages have defined the bounty-hunting career of Bossk, who was the son of Cradossk. Being a Trandoshan, Bossk began his career by Wookiee hunting, which is typically considered suicidal if attempted by any other species. During this time, Bossk made quite a name for himself and began accepting bounties on non-Wookiees as well, becoming one of the most powerful bounty hunters criminals have ever had to reckon with.

Bossk failed at his attempt to capture han solo. Boba Fett is the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy. Second is IG-88 cause he's unstopable since he's only a computer program with many robot bodies.

I prefer IG-88. Fett's menace was never sufficiently illustrated (with the exception of "no disintegrations" command from Vader.)

I love the book Star wars: Tales of the bounty Hunters. Boba Fett did foil IG-88's plan to kill him and comandeer Han Solo. That Makes Fett the best in my opinion.

Bossk is incredible. Fett was more skilled though...have you ever read the Bounty Hunter Trilogy by KW Jeter? For most of the trilogy, Fett makes Bossk look like an imbecile, but Bossk finally trumps him in the end.

Zuckuss is a big pussy despite having a Star Wars grind band named after him.

Bossk was the inspiration for my last Star Wars RPG character.

And yes, I am aware that I am completely hopeless.

4-lom is pretty gay too. He's like Protocol Droid with a big dumb insect head. He's also a sell out cause he later joined the rebellion.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Aug 2,2006 3:40pm
4-lom is funny in the books though.

Zuckuss is just a snatch with armor way too cool for him.

toggletoggle post by kevord  at Aug 2,2006 3:43pm
Bossk smells like shit and wears a flight suit too small for him. Also the Hounds Tooth couldn't touch slave 1.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Aug 2,2006 3:45pm edited Aug 2,2006 3:46pm
Bossk also killed his own family. Which more than makes up for your pithy insults.

(Note that I already said Fett was more skilled, he is the greatest of the bounty hunters, followed by Dengarr in distant second place. Dengarr also saved Fett's life from the Sarlacc.)

toggletoggle post by kevord  at Aug 2,2006 3:48pm
Bobba Fett was also Dengar's best man at his wedding. I like to think of Fett and Dengar as old drinking buddies.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Aug 2,2006 3:55pm
I agree. Old drinking buddies that would shoot each other for a beer on a cold penniless night in Mos Eisley.

toggletoggle post by litacore   at Aug 2,2006 6:06pm
HAHAHA, keep this fucking thread going

I haven't read any of the books, but where do I start? Splinter in the Mind's Eye?

toggletoggle post by kevord  at Aug 2,2006 6:12pm
You start with the first book Heir to the Empire. It takes place after Return of the Jedi. But if you like the bounty hunters Tales of the Bounty hunters is good too.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Aug 2,2006 9:39pm edited Aug 2,2006 9:42pm
Splinter of the Mind's Eye is retarded.

Tales of the Bounty Hunter is an anthology, there is also an actual Bounty Hunter Trilogy which features Bossk and Fett, written by a brilliant cyberpunk author who put out more new ideas in a single novel than all the other Star Wars novelizations combined. Of course, since there were no gay Jedi in a central role, all the fanboys hated the Jeter books. Which only proves how good they actually are.

Timothy Zahn's trilogy is also good (Heir to the Empire, etc), it had the coolest villain ever (Thrawn) who could anticipate the rebel movements by studying pieces of art from the planets they were hiding out on. Way cooler than Vader. To point out just how cool Thrawn is, remember that the Empire did not allow alien troops, least of all officers. They allowed Thrawn to become a Grand Admiral. So...yeah...awesome.

If you have a LOT of patience, the 17-novel cycle New Jedi Order is also cool, it introduces a very fucking awesome alien race who is powerful enough to basically almost take over the entire Star Wars galaxy, kill a major character, and hand the Jedis their asses on a regular basis. What could be cooler than that?

Tales from Jabbs Palace and Tales of the Bounty Hunters were both awesome 'outside' Star Wars novels...

Kevin J Anderson is the best of those authors IMO.

Jedi Academy is my favorite series.

Thrawn cooler than Vader? It took that retard 5 years to figure out palpatine was dead and the Empire had fallen to the rebellion.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Aug 2,2006 10:03pm
Jedi Academy was decent. I just don't like the writers nearly as much as some of the other series (Heir to the Empire, Bounty Hunter Trilogy).

As opposed to being a pair of emo pussies who fell for every stupid trick in the book? Thrawn may not be the most popular iconic villain in Star Wars, but along with the Yuuzhan Vong, he was the most formidable.

The Empire had not yet fully fallen to the rebellion even decades after Thrawn's death. Even after his CLONE's death. The Empire still exists during the New Jedi Order. So what are you smoking?

Vader was your typical big dumb bully antagonist. He's so overrated, he just had a cool voice. Admit it! Thrawn didn't have any cheaty Dark Side powers to help his ascent through the xenophobic Empire. Pure intellect. The only way they could even kill Thrawn was to cheese him out in the end.

There wouldn't have been an empire if it wasn't for Vaders betrayel of the old republic. Plus Vader hunted down and exterminated all the Jedi Knights remaining after episode 3. Thrawn couldn't have taken down a Padawin in hand to hand combat even with one of those stupid lizards around his neck.

i cant recall if it was a novel or comic, but fett and vader slugged it out and fett actually had the chance to kill vader, but didn't... that makes fett bad ass.

i always thought 4-LOM and Zuckuss got the shit end of the stick. Zuckuss comes off like a bitch in shadows of the empire and 4-LOM gets wasted by Fett. Atleast the Tales of The Bounty Hunter story they had was pretty sweet where they ended up siding with the Rebels.

On a side note...

Het Nkik getting wasted in Tales from Mos Eisley sucked... he was the first bad ass jawa.

Yes there would have been an Empire. Almost all the important Jedi were slain by CLONE TROOPERs, Palpatine, and OLD AGE. Vader couldn't even kill Mace, he just cut off his hand and Palpatine did it. He couldn't kill Ben in their first fight, and Ben LET him win in the 2nd fight. He couldn't kill Luke either. He was far too emo to be a good villain.

Vader did NOT exterminate all the Jedi Knights remaining after episode 3. He hunted a few weak Jedi who were not powerful enough to be on the Council. There were many in hiding that he did not get to. You need to read the fiction more

There was going to be an Empire whether Vader joined up or not. Proof: It was already in motion when Palpatine showed to save Vader's sorry-ass, emo half-corpse lying by the volcano. If Anakin died there, there still would have been an Empire. Actually, if Anakin died there, the Empire would have WON, because Vader wouldn't have allowed his son to get past him in the shuttle, Palps would have taken out Luke and that would have been the end of it.

The Empire lost because of Darth Vader.

Thrawn couldn't have taken down a Padawin in hand to hand combat even with one of those stupid lizards around his neck.

Who cares? The overwhelming majority of non-Force users could not take down a Padawan in hand to hand combat. They have magic powers and a definitive advantage in all situations, only soldiers and bounty hunters can kill them by surprise attacks or in the rare chance they have superior combat capabilities (and a lot of tricks, like Fett).

Thrawn was a genius and wouldn't have gotten into that situation to begin with. That's why he was the only alien Grand Admiral in the Empire, and one of the only alien officers ALLOWED in the Empire. In fleet to fleet combat tactics, Thrawn would eradicate Vader, he didn't get where he was because he could choke suckaz from miles away with invisible magic, he got there because he was smart.

Don't make me break out any of the countless Darth Vader Emo websites and images.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Hmmm...what's cooler...a typical bully villain in black armor (Black Knight) who is such a moron that he kills half his best generals and loses because he can't control his emo?

Or a unique villain that can predict enemy tactics through cultural artwork, that was only killed because Zahn needed a way to write him out (and, gee, that turned out to be Vader's fault too!)

When I was five, I'd pick the former. But these days I have to side with creativity and Timothy Zahn.

Fett is a far superior fighter than Vader, but Vader has the Force, the ultimate cheaty deus ex machina in the Galaxy.

Zuckuss is hilarious in Bounter Hunter Trilogy when he's a n00b that they take along on a mission.

NKIK reference nets 10,000 points!

wow i didnt look at this thread because i didnt realize it was about THE Bossk. are these books readily available at like Barnes and Noble and such? Star Wars is the greatest thing ever, and i would like to learn more about this.

While I am a big Star Wars fan, Boba Fett who was awesome when I was a kid, a character I have a 6 ft cardboard stand up off, is really not as great as everyone makes him out to be when you look back on it. He is awesome looking, the armor is pretty bad ass and he doesn’t really talk which is cool, I mean all the things he says are tough like “He’s no good to me dead”, but when you get down to it that's all. This doesn’t include all of the books, side stories, games any of the things that were made outside of the original trilogy. I mean honestly what did he really do, not that much and then he got eaten by the Sarlacc pit. I mean he took Solo in carbonite to Jabba the Hutt, of which he never would have got if it wasn’t for Vader to begin with (granted Fett found where the Falcon was going but still) and he just kind of kept watch when he brought him back to Jabba. You never saw him use the rocket on his back, not the pack the actual missile on top of it, and then when he did use the jetpack after the first time Han hits it and activates and then he is fucked, it deactivates and then he falls down and is eaten. He’s still cool, but he just isn’t this incredible bounty hunter that everyone makes him out to be in the movies.

Now outside of the movies he's seems pretty cool from what people are saying, I've just never read any of the other stories, so i'm not knocking those at all. I'm just talking about the movies.

what ruins Fett for me is the portayal of him as a little unmasked twerp in 'Atack of the Clones'

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Aug 3,2006 12:45pm
yeah that was bogus.

I'm willing to ignore episodes 1-3 for there utter gayness. Hayden Christianson is why vader now looks like an emo fag. Eipisodes 4-6 and the novels are all that matters. Vader did not just kill old decrepid Jedi Scott. Go watch A New Hope. Obi Wan say's that Vader Hunted down and destroyed the Jedi. Don't use Revenge of the Sith as reference. George Lucas is now old and washed up.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Aug 4,2006 10:46am
granted Revenge of the Sith was poorly acted, but it was good to have some basis for A New Hope. it did tie some loose ends together, but yes i agree, if you are going to watch Star Wars, watch 4-6.

I loved the movies and the mythology but why does everyone want to commit genocide on the wookies?

P.S. taking fett's side in this one.

IG-88 doesn't count, although it is bad ass that he wants to destroy all of humanity and that he became the death star.
