i'm looking for speed and technique excercises. i'd also like to learn sweep picking.

John Petrucci's Rock Discipline has some nice drills. Mainly what you need for speed is to play with a metronome and focus on playing everything as evenly as you can. Speed is not actually the key to shredding, it's clarity and uniformity that make you. Also, focus on minimizing your pick movement. The more efficient you are with your picking hand, the better you will be.

sweep picking practice is just time consuming.

just find some positions and practice them. over. and over. and over.

you don't need to spend $30 on a dvd for that.

and get a metronome. best investment to someone like you.

Rock Discipline is the best, Paul Gilbert's video is also great, you'll learn a lot from either
