I'm trying to back up every CD I own, and I've run into a little conondrum. I have the edition of Exhumed's "Slaughtercult" that is shaped like a saw blade, and I'm wondering if it will actually work in my computer (it's not a tray, it's in the style of a car CD player I guess you could say). Anyone know if I'm safe to try it?

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jun 14,2007 3:14pm
i wouldnt recommend it. my first copy of Dimmu's "Spiritual Black Dimensions" had one of those shape cuts, it had points cut out of the pentagram on it, and it almost mangled my cd drive. it started making these fucked up grinding noises.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 14,2007 3:14pm
yes, safe to try.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jun 14,2007 3:14pm
i think the weight gets thrown off.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 14,2007 3:15pm
rev, are you fucking with me?

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jun 14,2007 3:15pm
well then. the rev is more inclined to computer knowledge, so do as you see fit. i've just had bad experiences with those. i hate the shape cds.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 14,2007 3:19pm
if it plays in a regular CD player and you don'thave a slot-loading cd-rom, you will be find as long as the weight is semi-balanced.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jun 14,2007 3:20pm
yeah mine was slot-loading. they say on the cd case "NOT FOR USE IN CAR STEREOS". it will fuck your shit up.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 14,2007 3:21pm
all right, i'm going to try it. but if it fucks up my drive, i'm going to make you buy me a new one rev, haha. especially since it's my birthday today, and a broken cd rom drive is not a good birthday present.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jun 14,2007 3:24pm
dont do it dude! when that cd came out i tried playing it in my car cd player and it broke it. That was in my 1st car too, and i remember it being in like early june. Needless to say it wrecked my whole summer, not being able to listen to music in my car.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jun 14,2007 3:24pm
if it sounds like its spinning at 1000 mph, take it out. thats the first sound mine made before other more unsettling noises started.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 14,2007 3:26pm
i'm not going to try it after reading what anthony said, haha. i'll just have to have someone with a tray-loading cd-rom rip it for me.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 14,2007 3:30pm
yes, I said if you have a slot loader, don't do it

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 14,2007 3:34pm
my reading comprehension isn't up to par today apparently.

haha, wait a minute! you said "yes, safe to try" first. you are the john kerry of cd-rom drive politics.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 14,2007 3:39pm
it's safe to try with the cavet of "you aren't using a slot loader" or voting on iraq.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 14,2007 3:41pm
well, if you read the original post, i said:

"it's not a tray, it's in the style of a car CD player I guess you could say"

heyo.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 14,2007 4:13pm
what if my car has a dashboard the opens up? like a flip-top

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 14,2007 4:51pm
then you have a retarded car.

toggletoggle post by TheAccursedDrummer  at Jun 14,2007 7:01pm
If it's on your laptop, just bring it by to practice and rip it with my copy, that is unfortunately NOT shaped like a sawblade, you lucky shit.

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Jun 14,2007 8:45pm

you are too kind. i ripped several for you, and they are all delicious.

toggletoggle post by metalguy at Jun 16,2007 12:17pm
I actually kind of wish that my copy had not the shaped cd.... Wanna trade? Maybe I will listen to it a bit more.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 16,2007 10:12pm
i'm too much of a collector to give up a shaped cd (or a 3" cd), but it's a pain in the ass

toggletoggle post by Mike_Giallo   at Jun 17,2007 2:21am
I once owned 3 different released of Slaughtercult. Good cd.

toggletoggle post by hungtableed at Jun 17,2007 7:39am
hahaha, I actually had that same version of that cd like 6-7 years ago. I bought and tried to put it in my car cd player and it got jammed half-way in! I finally rigged it out but my cd player thought that there was a cd in there still and wouldn't let me put another disc in. What I had to do was unplug the power cables to my cd player and it reset it self.

In the end, I took the shit back and got a regular shaped version.
