woah, when i met those guys their guitarist
A: Had long hair
B: Was fat.

weird.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 10,2004 1:59am
same guy, looks like he lost weight.
he also shaved his head.
I was a little taken back by that too.

stratia: I wasn't really into them. A bit to emo for me. Also, all their songs where about jebus. I'm not bad mouthing jebus, but it was a bit too sunday school for me. I think some people in the audience were speaking in tongues. the funniest thing is I listened to a think about born-agains talking in tongues on NPR while driving home.

darken the sky: wow, I was totally unaware of them playing. I thought it would be cool if they played (seeing as it's in nashua) and then I bumped into them bringing their stuff to the stage. Cool set. The owner cut them off their set with one song left, but then they got to play another song.

human flight committee: I'd heard such horrible things about them, baptizing the crowd and stuff. I was happy to say that they were pretty good, not sure about the lycis, but good. sort of like a rock-oriented nora with some simple drum fills. they played 3 songs with the mercury switch and their drummer singing. these were all dedicated to the band refused. then they played 3 songs of their own.

the hostage heart: if I get pink eye, I know who to blame. This band is ex-skycuttingstars.
http://www.thehostageheart.com/destroy_rebuild_destroy.mp3 << listen to their mp3 there.
this was their first offical show so there were a few mistakes and off-timings I could hear. I don't think it helped that they could hear anything up there. the new stuff is pretty tuff and the drummer blasts a lot. the guitar work is a lot more engaged that old SCS stuff.
thanks for the props in the end too, they tried to get the crowd to give me $$! ha!

mercury switch: so much better that the last time I saw them. they were really tight and it was so cool how all the people there knew just about every lyric that they sang. It was odd that they have 2 singers cause they both basically sing the same thing at the same time, in the same voice. actually the oddest thing was all the people that came on stage to "guest vocals" sang in the exact same voice too... weird...

thanks for coming out rev. that was the most people i've ever seen at drifters, although a lot left after darken the sky (who were amazing, i might add), there were still a lot of people left. hope to see you tuesday at club marque. ion dissonance and forever is forgotten, and us.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Jan 17,2004 11:20pm edited Jan 17,2004 11:21pm
cool! aaron (the reverend) and i shoot with the nikon d100, but i used to shoot with a canon elan 7e =) i love the 50mm 1.4
great for shooting larger concerts when you're not allowed to use the flash.
you develop it yourself?
you want to move to digital?

toggletoggle post by makelovesohard   at Jan 17,2004 11:55pm edited Jan 17,2004 11:58pm
i would LOVE to be able to develop them myself. but alas, a darkroom is no where to be found.

and i think i'd like to try my hand with digital...i actually was standing over (aaron's) shoulder at the show and drooling over his camera...

brilliant...what would you suggest?
