i bought a new bass at work today. a Spector Euro 4 string with EMG active pickups. so i bring it home, hook it up to my rig, and learn these pickups are really hot. meaning they have a shitload of output and gain. i had to plug into the passive input jack on my amp, and turn the gain all the way down just to prevent the speakers from farting. this is not good. if this bass is already giving me this much problem with gain control, what will happen when i turn my sansamp on? so i turn on the sansamp. and no matter what i did i could not get rid of the unwanted distortion. i turned all EQ's flat. i tried both input jacks on the amp, i tried using the effects loop. no good. no matter what i did i couldn't stop it. now i gotta return the Spector because it does me no good. i can't not use the sansamp, it's an integral part of my sound. does anybody have any ideas?

Did you have sex with it? I find that a lot of my gear acts funny after I have sex with it. Try having less sex with it, or no sex at all. That might be better for it.

i'm bringing it into work today and ask some of the guys if they have any ideas, if not, i'll just get a new bass. and deodium, u don't have sex with an instrument until after you've hooked it up to your rig and everything is good, i couldn't return the bass if the input jack had a "sticky substance" inside it.

you can't return vibrators either.

i have a feeling something is wrong with the bass. there's 2 inputs on my SWR, a Passive/Active, and Active. now with an active bass i should of course plug into the active jack because it's 10 db's quieter, but i immediately get speaker distortion, and that's running straight from the bass into the amp. in order to get anything i have to plug into Passive/Active, and the gain has to be already down, and even then the Clip LED lights up. i hope it's the bass, because i can just exchange it for another one. i don't think it could be my amp because my schecter runs fine through it, even though it is a passive bass.

i think YOUR problem may be lack of post-coitus affection. do you cuddle with it after? or just go right to sleep? maybe it wont act so funny towards you after if you showed it that you cared.....

just a thought....

im sorry, i would have replied properly, if:

1. i had any clue as to give any sort of advice in this situation
2. it wasnt so late and i wasnt so tired and could refrain from being goofy.

god hates sinners.

I always cuddle, I'm a big cuddler. But I'm not overbearing about it either, I let it have its space when it wants it.

I don't know anything about active electronics which is why I havn't had any serious input. If I knew stuff, I would've said said stuff long ago. Goodeve.

lower the pickups as low as they can go it should eliminate soem of the gain
