does anybody have any available space for a few people to practice once a week? it's just me and my equipment and a drum set perhaps. at least right now, still seeking bass.

i'm limited on cash right now and we'd only be able to offer 100-120 bucks a month at the moment.

I had to dust my amp off the other night, not a good sign. let me know

thanks

..and if the drumset creates a problem we can disassemble/reassemble each time we practice.

and seth, if you read this, there's no way i'd be able to pay the money to practice down in herugrim's old room right now. trust me, thought about it but can't afford it.

Bump

Oh man, I have a full house to ourseleves (just me and my 2 sons) with a huge basement with tons of space. (three bands could fit down there) problem is I live in Hyannis (The Cape) so I am sure it would not be ideal for you all due to my location. Regardless, just a thought.

Bah. Thanks man. That'd work for me because I live right off the cape, but I don't think it'd work for others.

Try IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER.

toggletoggle post by SkinSandwich at Oct 21,2009 4:26pm
Yeah, I thought that would be an issue. If anything changes let me know.

All the space is going to waste down there for nothing besides laundry. I thought of starting a pornogrind band down there called Brian Dennehys' Balls just to use the space.

taunton place sucks at returning calls. i find it hard to believe no one has a free night and wants a little money off of their rent

bump or you're all dead by nightfall

Composted might be getting a new practice space in the Boston area soon (depending on availability. If and when this happens, I'll see if you're still looking.

Word. I'm looking to have something within a month time frame. Going insane not being able to jam.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Oct 26,2009 12:08pm
Have you tried priority in Hanson or Whitman yet?

Also, which taunton space did you try? I don't know anything about bandstand live, but Mass Music Complex (formerly river's edge) is run by Joel from Jarrod's Place/Drop 360 now. Go pay him a visit, he's almost always there.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Oct 26,2009 12:14pm
Priority in Hanson and Whitman? You mean there's a place to practice there that's not in a cornfield? Where is it, I don't live too far from those towns and I love the drive.

I tried BandStandLive. I've been there before, place is legit. Not sure why they suck at returning calls.
Never heard of Mass Music Complex.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Oct 26,2009 12:23pm
Priority: The main building is right across the street from the T station/Dunkin Donuts on 27 in Hanson. It's a little music store in the small white building. He has rooms in that building, and a whole shitload more in a building in Whitman. Luke (the owner) is always working at the store, so head to Hanson to check out availability for both places.

Mass Music Complex is right next to the redemption center in Taunton. Just take 44 into Taunton, bear left at the big fountain thingee, and it's 1/4 mile on you right, set back from the road a little.

Hopefully one of these works out for you.

toggletoggle post by MikeOv at Oct 26,2009 12:25pm
According to a certain person who will remain unnamed, apparently Priority is "haunted" and there's a vortex to another plane of existence in one of the men's stalls. He swears by it.

Crazy? You be the judge.

Wrong Priority. Those buildings are closed and boarded up now.

And it's according to ME as well. I was in the haunted attic room by myself for 8 months with my drums. Shit was fucking frightening. It's why I traded the biggest room in the entire building for another room about 1/8th the size for the same rent. I didn't want to be in there anymore.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Oct 26,2009 12:29pm
Thanks man.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Oct 26,2009 12:29pm
And not just haunted, the ORIGINAL owner ran a chop shop, coke dealing, filmed kiddie porn, and so much other fucked up shit in that building back in the day.

I remember thinking the guy was gonna have a coronary when I asked him what the big room lined in tin-foil and blacklights was for.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Oct 26,2009 12:30pm
Ha, what? There's a 'haunted' band practice room?

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Oct 26,2009 12:31pm
The best place in Taunton is the Paul Dever school. All these abandoned buildings way in the back. They haven't been open for 20+ years, and most of them are connecting by underground tunnels. I used to frequent there in highschool before it got more popular among the kids and attacted attention (they have guards with nightvision now.)
We were walking in the underground tunnels and heard little kids laughing. Fucked up shit.

toggletoggle post by MikeOv at Oct 26,2009 12:32pm
Ok, but this was Priority in Hanson, right? Because that's where it went down. Did they just relocate it to a different part of the town due to it being haunted (lulz)? Why that particular Priority hasn't ended up on an episode of Ghost Hunter's is beyond me.

toggletoggle post by MikeOv at Oct 26,2009 12:34pm
Also, any info on that vortex I mentioned?

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Oct 26,2009 12:34pm
The old Priority was inside the old abandoned Ocean Spray plant from the 50's. It's an old old building with a slightly less old extension built off the front. It was one building of maybe 5 that housed all the equipment that processed the juice. You can still see the smokestack.

Anyway, there was definitely some creepy shit there. The rumors that it was haunted grew as people came and went, and Luke (the owner now) loves to tell the stories to EVERYONE. From personal experience (and I've logged more time in that building that anyone, even Luke) I'd say it's 20% creepy illegal shit Gary (old owner) was trying to cover up, 70% bullshit, and 10% really hard to explain shit that makes practicing alone late at night NOT FUN!

Mike, it's a HUGELY long story, but here's the short version.

Spooky Gary owned the buildings priority was in. Luke sub-letted and ran Priority out of there. Gary got desperate for money at the end, and tried to walk in and seize Priority and lock Luke out. Luke sued, and won. Gary died. YAY! Now Luke is right next door in a building he DOES own, which he was originally renting out for income.

TA DA

The security people were growing pot.

I had only been there like once and I don't really remember my experience there. This is a great topic of discussion during the week of Halloween.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Oct 26,2009 12:39pm
And NO ONE found a warp zone in the bathroom. I know this because I know the bathrooms had NO ventilation, and no one could bear to be in them long enough to even LOOK for a vortex. It got so bad at one point bands were PEEING IN THEIR ROOMS. I'm not kidding, or exaggerating one bit.

toggletoggle post by sever at Oct 26,2009 12:40pm
Tinfoil creates hotspots and distributes light unevenly. Blacklights are completely worthless for growing anything. The security people might have tried to grow pot but by the sounds of it, they failed.

It's locked up, and falling apart. The roof in parts has caved in. Yet there's a big "for sale" banner out front. I guess they're hoping to sell it to someone who wants to just tear all 5 buildings down and re-develop.

Ok, got it, so he was hallucinating the appearance of a vortex, due to the noxious fumes of human waste. Mystery solved!

Dude, this was 1993. We didn't even have internet yet. At least they tried.

Probably had more success with the coke ring and kiddie porn anyway.

Nah, dude. I mean REALLY falling apart. The reason it was the only building left standing was because Gary was letting them go, and collecting the insurance money when they collapsed. That place was unsafe as hell when it WAS open, now it's just not a good idea to go in there. All the cool stuff like the attic cafeteria and Safe room are just a torn hole in the roof now.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Oct 26,2009 12:46pm
Nope.
It's pretty risky to do that stuff if there's security. The last time I was in Taunton at that place, we got caught with night vision, however I crawled under a bush and crawled through a field.

Not worth getting arrested. You really need some sort of clearance. I would love to film a music video at this place in taunton; it's perfect for it.

not so adventurous anymore.

The original Priority Music building is/was the most fucked up place ever, aside from the old Plymouth County Medical Hospital right down the street from there (otherwise known as the tuberculosis and/or methadone clinic). If I could remember what thread(s) featured stories from Priority I'd post them in here.

And I believe Doug Rinaldi (ex-BOE vocalist) actually tried to get Ghost Hunters in there or something of that nature but they didn't experience enough fucked up shit...I don't have any of the facts though; maybe Dave Maggot does since I think he was involved a little in the exploration.
