Actually the Faroe Islands are an autonomous district, so there really isn't a whole lot that the government of Danish proper can do about the matter, aside from yell at a brick wall. You should also know that whales make a significant portion of the Faroese diet, at about 30% of the meat produced on the island (and thus fairly significant to their economy as well), so it isn't like they're just gutting them for sport and leaving the carcasses on the shore. People need to live and eat too, or did you forget that somewhere in your misplaced sympathy for cetaceans?
I do, if people can't think to establish or dismiss these things on their own. People who need a religion or a TV show to tell them how to behave or think is disturbing.

The only way I would have been offended by this is if they weren't eating everything they caught. I do think that the numbers are pretty ridiculous but as long as they fish sustainably (like the Inuit do) then they're alright in my book.

FIRST OFF: Those are not bottle-nosed dolphins they are fucking PILOT WHALES.
SECOND: Whale hunts/harvests/culls have been happening for centuries on the Faroe Islands, just because you don't kill your own meat doesn't mean that they shouldn't. Just because they're mammals that we have affinity for doesn't mean they're more special than moose, wolves, or shrews.
THIRD: Several studies have shown that the increasing mercury content in the whales has an adverse effect on child development. Since then much the consumption has dropped considerably, especially among children which means they probably won't feed it to their children and this practice will fade away.

I did message them, but people who run websites based off of scare tactics rarely listen to reason. I really hope you thought that link didn't support your case. Just because it doesn't conform to your cultural standards doesn't mean that its wrong.
