Sorry, the hotel made me make it 21+. They want the people coming to buy booze I guess. The hotel venue is a little random, but I guarantee a good time. Anybody at the show gets discounts on rooms too. I plan on continuing the party upstairs after the show.
I agree, and it wasn't my choice to do it this way. But, this is also the last time I do a pay to play show. It makes me feel like fucking Hitler. I'm not going to make any of the bands on the lineup pay if they don't do a lot of presale though. Fuck that noise.
So weird it's at a hotel... why not use any other venue?
Just saying, not hating.
They offered. So I said what the hell and booked it.

Foghorn, on our rider, we shall have 6 sandwiches of varying forms from veggie to meaty all with one bite taken out of each of them by charlton heston's ghost.
The personification of a three-year-old's fear of the dark.
Liquid cocaine.
And all the hallelujahs of the kuran.
oh, and a lock of Blue's beautiful mane.

metal show at a hotel, sounds tempting

Hetfield + Hetfield?
Metal becoming self-referential is one of the first signs of imminent decay.

They are such an awesome band though so it doesn't even matter.
I handed out flyers for this at that great scott show last night. I missed skeletonwitch because I am lame and had to take the bus for like an hour ride back home. Fuck snow, ruins my life.

WUML Promoter - "I'm working on the Cambridge Elks now. Hope they get back to me soon! I'm expecting a lot. Like 200ish. Ive already sold a bunch of tickets and did a shitload of promotion. So, the guy that booked the hotel with me lost his job over the show. Fucking blows! Especially since we came up with the $5000. Owner told us to fuck off."
That's the email I got. Foghorn, is this true ol' chap?
You gotta be fucking kidding me. What the fuck, Marriott?
post by foghorn at Feb 23,2010 8:46pm edited Feb 23,2010 9:05pm
Yes, the rumors are true. We got fucked by the hotel. Once the flyers went up all over Cambridge, the owner decided to check out the bands' myspaces. "You didn't tell me there was moshing!" When we booked the show 2 months ago we were very clear it was a metal show. Now Pete's out of a job, and I need a new venue.
I called the Cambridge Elks and emailed Ammonia records about booking the elks. I'm also trying to get in touch with whoever books Unit 11. Would anyone mind helping me out? The show will go on, it's just a matter of where at this point. Worst case scenario it gets moved to Lowell. I'm sorry everyone. This blows.
Middle East is booked. Yea, I was thinking the Elks might be a bit small. Was crossing my fingers on Unit 11. Have about 4 people working on that. Also, there's still a chance we might get the hotel back. No promises, but I just woke up to that phone call.
post by s.axl.beckett at Feb 24,2010 12:04pm
So they fired your friend for being into metal basically? Seems way out of line.
BTW Do you want me to just go to unit 11 and see If I can get a hold of anybody there in person?
Don't bother. Just talked to Max. They're doing a Haiti benefit show. He said he'd look around for another space. I think the show might have to be moved to Lowell. I'll post again when I touch base with Pete.
670 Center St. Jamaica Plain. It's right across the street from JP Licks and in the same building as City Feed. The place holds a little over 200 people.
Yeah everything about the show is still the same. The venue has now been dubbed "Centre St Studios" and there will be beer there. COME TO THE SHOW OR DIE KHED! DUDE LOST HIS JOB NO FUCKING AROUND!
Can't wait for this shit. Glad to here there will be beer, as I was highly concerned about this.
$12 for all of these bands is a steal and ahalf if you ask me...

what's the likelihood that there will still be bands playing around say 11?
post by JDDomnli at Feb 26,2010 5:27pm
Can any of the bands arrange to get me 2 tickets in advance to save the $2? Email me at JDDomination@hotmail.com
post by sir coughsalot at Feb 26,2010 6:27pm
the bands will more than likely still be going by eleven but its gonna be a first come first serve basis as far as people coming to the show goes so the sooner anyone gets there the better.
Exactly the flyer modification I was thinking of.
FYI I am making some CDs for the show that will never be released as actual albums to sell at the show if anybody wants em.
Half are the "Post apocalyptic revisionist history" cassette + The Unreleased DA/AA split from 06'
the other half are "Post apoc" + the out of print "Hand axe to laser" EP from 05'
IF ANYBODY GIVES A SHIT.

just dont make any copies of the '03 demos pleeeeease!
by the way can I get a ticket from you in advance, outside the club so I dont have to pay 10$? Ill call you
Thanks to everyone for coming out, and sorry for forgetting to thank the hosts and other bands. I always forget to do that. That Hivesmasher guy was NUTS.
This show was great. The whole waiver and drink tickets thing was a little weird, but whatever.
Revocation ripped so fucking hard as usual. I had so much dust and airborne debris in my nose this morning from this place. Definitely one of the strangest metal show venues I've ever been to.
aaron is my home boy, was @work last night playing dasmasha n de hetfieldz

Where can we find pictures of this show? There were cameras going off like crazy all night!
Lich King - Thrashy, loud, long song titles. Everyone really dug it and they were a great way to start off the night. I think with better gear, their sound could be huge!
Hetfield & Hetfield - No pussy yoddling in this band from depressed crybaby millionairs. In a real biased opinion, I think they stole the show. As I looked around the room, everyone pretty much had slackjaw while they were watching this band with the misrepresenting name. A little bit of technical issues slowed things down, but they definitely got the crowd going again.
Deathamphetamine - For some reason I thought these guys had a completely different sound. I'm glad I was wrong. Very punk/grind goodness that's appropriate for fist pumping. I mistook the guitarist for John Dwyer at first. Blue corrected me. My bad.
Revocation - They were very tight, as to be expected. People crawling all over each other and acting more-so like they were at a party than a metal show. *gasp* People having fun at a metal show?! This is one of the best things about this band, they play amazing music that people loosen up for. A total lack of arm-folded nerds looking as though they wish they were somewhere else. Great end to the night! Well, maybe Blue's escape from the po-po could compete.

Awesome show. I was captain bringdown about our sound and the communal lack of action pertaining to it, but it was still wicked cool. That venue is awesome, but the sound did suck. It WAS all just thrown together so It was awesome considering. It was awesome that the singer of hive smasher had bloody knuckles after they played. Revocation was rad per usual. The other bands were rad as well. Really good show overall, more of this would be good.
Good show! Except I'm broke now, but whatever. Definitely plan on doing more shows there, but no future shows are going to be like that one, haha. So, I went to the hotel afterwards seeing that I already had rooms booked. Within an hour of being there I was deathly ill and totally destroyed the bathroom. Sucks to be that cleaning lady. Funny thing is I didn't drink last night. That place is fucking cursed.
I mistook the guitarist for John Dwyer at first. Blue corrected me. My bad.
bahahahahahahaha
Yeah yeah laugh it up. It would have been even funnier if Dwyer had been there like he said he was gonna be. It would have been like a parent trap type moment or something.

half of the humour or that statement lies in the fact that he didn't specify which guitarist, and that it is just as funny either way
