I bought this amp on musiciansfriend about a month ago. It sounded like shit and just seemed kind of cheap. I took my 600 bucks and bought a used mesa boogie 2x12 nomad combo on craigslist.

I kinda want to turn a 5150/6505 2x12 into a stand alone head and seprate cab. I think it would be a cool project.

I wish I truly wanted to buy this amp, but, everyone I know (including myself) has had continual horrible experiences with Peavey. SS or Tube amps, doesnt matter.
Seriously, Crate and Randall amps hold a higher standard of quality in my mind... even SS Marshall heads/combos...

I guess I just wish Peavey currently made higher quality products for their price range. Oh well, you get what you pay for...

The Peavey MOD pages do give some hope, tho... :-/

I recently bought a 5150 II for 400 bucks. I've been nothing but pleased with it and everyone I know who owns a 5150 is also super pleased. Considering the 6505 is pretty much the same amp as the 5150II, I would say the exact opposite of you duder.
