They are super obnoxious and claim to be metal experts while they seem to know almost nothing about underground metal. I just had to get that off my chest.

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Mar 12,2012 9:40pm
They've explained in the past that they are not an underground metal show. They're on VH1 Classic. They represent hard rock and 80's heavy metal. Show is good.

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Mar 12,2012 9:53pm
Do Metal fans under 30 really think that mainstream music outlets like MTV and VH1 were talking about Bathory and Death back in the day? The internet has totally confused the youth.

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Mar 12,2012 9:58pm
I agree with your point that it's not an underground show. I don't think people are under the impression that MTV used to do specials on bathory but people expect a more balanced approach.

toggletoggle post by WarlockCommando at Mar 12,2012 10:01pm
They need to represent SOME underground metal if they aren't gonna call themselves "That 80's Metal Show "

That's bullshit. Most of the people that watch the show think Death Magnetic is killer. Hate to break it to you guys but underground metal fans are a small percentage of the metal and hard rock population.

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Mar 12,2012 10:05pm
Yeah but warlock commandos point about the name is pretty spot on. When you choose a name that paints a broad brush like that, people have expectations of broad coverage.

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Mar 12,2012 10:07pm
I know it's all about ratings but the show comes off as very manowarrior.

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Mar 12,2012 10:07pm
You guys know that most people consider Led Zeppelin Heavy Metal right?

toggletoggle post by WarlockCommando at Mar 12,2012 10:08pm
Plus they do cover newer metal, just extremely mainstream stuff

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Mar 12,2012 10:09pm
You guys are right. WAAF should play Goatwhore.

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Mar 12,2012 10:10pm
They used to lol.

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Mar 12,2012 10:13pm
Carson Daly played my bathory video on TRL in 1988.

toggletoggle post by YearoftheDragon at Mar 12,2012 10:15pm
That show is fuckin gay as Hell, you're exactly right. Especially that fag with the sideburns who's always dissing Iron Maiden while simultaneously sucking Judas Priest's dick, saying JP's 80s material was better than Maiden's, etc. "BYE BYE FUTURE AIDS VICTIM"

I heard a rumor that only oldfags watch VH1 classic.

toggletoggle post by YearoftheDragon at Mar 12,2012 10:36pm
Whatever, cover your bald spot about it

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Mar 12,2012 10:38pm
Year of the Dragon = born in 1988= Poser

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Mar 12,2012 10:39pm
Cher was born in the 90s

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Mar 12,2012 10:40pm
Poser

toggletoggle post by YearoftheDragon at Mar 12,2012 10:43pm
You must love mid-80s Judas Priest, nuff said.

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Mar 12,2012 10:45pm
My favorite Priest album is Defenders of the faith and I was alive when it was released.

toggletoggle post by YearoftheDragon at Mar 12,2012 10:53pm
That's it: go to the cupboard and get a cookie.

toggletoggle post by goatcatalyst   at Mar 12,2012 10:55pm
VH1 Classic is my favorite channel. Mid-day bong rips to Rock Show while I steal phat old soundboards for the fuckin

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Mar 12,2012 10:55pm
I dont know what that means so I'll go to the fridge and get another beer while I count my pubes.

toggletoggle post by YOUDOLTS at Mar 12,2012 11:06pm
only being born during a certain time frame is real

toggletoggle post by Fuck_Logging_In at Mar 12,2012 11:20pm
Anyone see Metal Evolution? For a doc on a mainstream station, I thought it was fairly comprehensive.

toggletoggle post by Headbanging_Man at Mar 13,2012 12:07am
Wait, so defending shitty, watered-down corporate representations of Metal is the path to true trueness? Great advice!

toggletoggle post by YearoftheDragon at Mar 13,2012 12:18am
WarlockCommando and Headbanging Man, you tell it like it is. I've seen that show only 'cos of lack of other television at 2A on a weekend morning. But the host with the sideburns sucks pretty bad.

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Mar 13,2012 12:27am
wait, a music channel is showing music?

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Mar 13,2012 7:35am
this is what you fags get for watching tv.

I love these kids that talk like metal experts and they were born 5 to 10 years after the album/band they are pontificating about.

Also, the trick is to cut your hair short enough that the bald spot just blends in.

toggletoggle post by bobnomaamrooney at Mar 13,2012 8:56am
Insta metal denim vest or born in the '90s

toggletoggle post by Josh_Martin at Mar 13,2012 9:44am
Show is good when they have good guests. The hosts are lame. I lost all respect when they had a Vulgar Display of Power vs. Reign in Blood debate and Pantera won.
But when they have good guests it gets interesting. The Scott Gorham interview was awesome. And you can never go wrong with having a drunk Ace Frehley on your show.

toggletoggle post by Josh_Martin at Mar 13,2012 9:46am
Oh, and 70's Priest kicks the SHIT out of 80's Priest.

Also: Glenn Hughes residency.

This thread is littered with F-word N-words who don't know shit about mk III Purple and T-word J-words who never listened to Sir Lord Baltimore

I was just listening to a Bolin era bootleg the other day. It was from the night that he accidentially shot up into a nerve and they had to tune his guitar all weird cause he could only move one finger on his left hand. Man, I thought I had bad nights......

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Mar 13,2012 1:15pm
dude....

toggletoggle post by goatcatalyst   at Mar 13,2012 1:31pm
They partied. I like the story where Blackmore conjured Lucifuge Rofocale into a syringe and injected Coverdale when he was passed out

toggletoggle post by Josh_Martin at Mar 13,2012 1:34pm
HA! I found one song on youtube from that gig. He acutally pulls if off for a bit, but WAIT until the solo. Wow! I thought I had bad nights......
