Really, this is the first lappy I have ever bought. HP had a 33% off deal. This is another reason that web access failed while trying to do RTTP this week. Here are the details:

HP ENVY 15t-3200 Notebook PC
A6U26AV
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
3rd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM Processor (2.3 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache)
1GB Radeon(TM) HD 7750M GDDR5 Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
8GB 1600DDR3MHz System Memory (2 Dimm)
1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
Microsoft(R) Office Starter: reduced-functionality Word/Excel(R) only, No PowerPoint(R)/Outlook(R)
FREE 2-year Norton Internet Security subscription (a $99 value). Pre-installed.
8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery - Up to 10.25 hours of battery life +++
15.6-inch diagonal Radiance Full HD Infinity LED-backlit Display (1920 x 1080)
SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
720p HD video streaming webcam supports Skype
Intel 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R) with Wireless Display Support
Full-size Radiance backlit keyboard
Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) Elements 10 & Adobe Premiere(R) Elements 10
2 year limited warranty included
HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

I ran my image processing software on 212 - 16 mega pixel pictures:
$10K server at work: 1.2 minutes
work laptop (i5-2520): 3.5 minutes
new laptop: 2.14 minutes
Then I took out the 1TB and put in a 240GB SSD
new laptop (SSD): 1.3 minutes

So I will be happy with this camera I guess.

Honestly, had I not recently moved and had more money, I would've donated a lot more due to the damage I've caused to the forum over the years.

nice, get rid of the crapware and that's a nice desktop replacement

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 18,2012 9:26am
Wil donate more soon. Send me your old laptop.

that SSD performance increase is no joke.

toggletoggle post by CurlyRed at Jul 18,2012 9:34am
I have been meaning to get a SSD for my laptop too.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 18,2012 9:36am
I've never bought a laptop before. My "old" laptop is my work laptop and it sit at work. The whole reason for that is cause our source control at work over VPN takes 45 minutes to check in 5 files. Now, I leave the laptop at work and remote desktop into it to develop and it's soooo much better.

This laptop can drive the primary display + 2 other connected displays and one other display over dlna. I haven't tried the network display yet. And I need a displayport to hdmi converter.

Right now, I'm using 2x23" monitors pushed together to one giant display that is something like 2200x2048

Solid State Disk? Fool. Tube disks are better.

Do the rumors about SSD's burning out after being written to so many times have any validity? That was what kept me from upgrading to them all along. Ark, that link looks very informative but I don't have time to read it all.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 18,2012 9:45am
I'm going to fap to ark's article later. I've had a 120GB SSD in 2 different servers over 4 years or so. In that time, I've had more than 8 hd die and no SSD's die.

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Jul 18,2012 9:47am
meh, i don't know. i haven't heard those rumors. i've been running 2 in raid0 on my desktop as my OS drive for almost 2 years and no problems at all. basically SSDs do a lot of work to make itself almost transparent to the system between the drive and RAM.

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Jul 18,2012 9:48am
and at work we've had zero problems in laptops, we don't use them in servers yet.

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Jul 18,2012 9:53am
It might have been when SSD's were coming into the retail stream that I heard that rumor. Thanks for clarifying, I know what my next OS drive will be.

I gotta invest in a new one soon. Mine's several years old and getting sloooow. I use it for work, so I guess I gotta suck it up, but it totally digs into the firearms/ammo/tackle budget.

hm.. I thought I got this laptop in 2011 not 2012.

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Sep 22,2015 5:20pm
The year is 2015 and I love my ssd.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 23,2015 12:35pm
I put an SSD in this laptop (and all my laptops)
