INSOMNIUM US RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED

Philadelphia: Candlelight Records confirms May 4 as the US release date for the new album from Finland's Insomnium. Titled Since the Day it All Came Down, it is the second full-length album from growing melodic death metal band.

Recorded at Media Works Studios and mastered at Finnvox Studios, Since the Day All Came Down contains the same solid songwriting, impeccable musicianship and inventiveness that made the band's 2002 debut, In the Halls of Awaiting, a success. This time around, the band expands their concepts and lyrical adventures - finding the band truly coming into their own with a maturity that continues to be well beyond their years. Vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevanen, "This album contains music that is maybe more difficult to define. The foundation is still the melodic Scandinavian death metal, but there are very different kind of moods on the album. Progressive shades have taken a larger part in the new sound. This is a heavier and gloomier album than the first one, and surely more challenging."

Formed in 1997, Insomnium are based in the eastern-most region of Finland. With early In Flames, Amorphis, Opeth and the more organic sounds of Children of Bodom as a drawing comparison, the four-piece craft a sound that is familar yet truly their own. After recording two widely regarded demos, the band signed to Candlelight in 2001. In review, Digital Metal said of the band's debut, “In The Halls Of Awaiting is an impressive accomplishment, incorporating depression, self-deprecation and dark melody into a package worthy of your time.”

Track listing for Since the Day It All Came Down is confirmed as: Nocturne, The Day it All Came Down, Daughter of the Moon, The Moment of Reckoning, Bereavement, Under the Plaintive Sky, Resonance, Death Walked the Earth, Disengagement, Closing Words, Song of the Forlorn Son.

Candlelight Records, with offices in Philadelphia and headquartered in London, is distributed exclusively in the US by Caroline Distribution; in Canada by PHD Canada; throughout the rest of the world by Plastichead Music Distribution.
