New site? Maybe some day.
They're everywhere. At my rehearsal space, and at home, I see them constantly everywhere I go. I find them on every counter, or on the floor, or one will pop up in a load of laundry, or I'll find one in a pair of clean pants, etc....
However, the minute I pick up a guitar, to record a riff, or practice, or whatever, I can't find a fucking pick.
Am I the only one this happens to? |
(raises hand)
I will join your crusade. |
Oh man, this is so goddamn true. |
hahahaha, that's the beauty of playing bass. if i can't find a pick, i'll just use my fingers. stupid guitar players!!! |
whenever my band gets together picks seem to just disappear, they're usally go through 2-3 each |
Tortex .73 mil muthafuckers!!! |

we can use our fingers, but when we use a pick we do cooler shit than you homos. Like sick squeels and like crazy sweeps and shit. Bassists don't even know the word "attack", they just go "fingers...pick...same shit". So much to learn, little ones.
I will fight bassists with two hockey sticks and a hard-on showing out of my gym shorts. |

I agree. Yellow turtles everywhere.
Tortex 73 Sharps, bitches. |
oh weird i used those a lot after practicing in the ALAWALWAD practice space for so long...they had a good feel.
Lately I've moved back to harder stuff like Fender XH cause it gets me better squeals and slightly better double picking...I like the Green Tortex best as a good overall pick. |
2.mm Gators. Oh, the humanity. |
1.14 mm Dunlop Ultex picks. |
blue tortex like a motherfucker |
i cant stand fender picks or any other pick that is made of plastic, the shit just wears too quickly, and slips outta me hand bad. i just have one of those handy dandy pick holders on my rack, that way i always have picks ready to go.
dunlop tortex .88 baby. its all about the green. |

Red turtles. Shred like a muthafucka...... |

Luckily the guy from Sum 41 uses them too! |
It's all about the fifth pocket. Learn it, know it, love it. |
I made a pick holder in my wallet. |
I used to use those glow in the dark ebe piks (you know, the ones with the alien...) because they seriously don't get worn down virtually at all. Then my guitar teach got me hooked on Dunlop Jazz 3's, which to be honest, i have no idea how thick they are, cause they don't say it on the pick. They are pretty damn thick though, and they are quite small and sharp. At first they were awkward, but I was told to give them a shot and I would warm up to them, which turns out only took a net of like 2 hours of playing, and now I can't play good leads with anything else. |
My guitar covers up my fifth pocket. Not convenient at all. |
What? No not while you're playing. You keep a few in there always so that at any time you have a pick when you may need one. While you're playing just keep the excess ones on top of your amp. |
I keep mine in with my ear plugs in a little plastic box which hangs off my key/watch chains. It looks snazzy next to the compass. |
i've seen people use rolled over duct tape on everything, so there's picks taped everywhere... but it sucks ass to move things with duct tape all over them |
Do you guys really drop that many picks or are you Paul Stanley and throw them out? I got by a two week tour with like five of them. Fifth pocket. |
maybe you're the minority... |
I used to wear them down untill they were impossible to use but now that i have a job and can afford new ones i throw them out if theyre not sharp enough. |
you can use the old ones to make ultra cool punk rock jewelry out of them and sell them outside of hot topic to all the cool kids and make more money to buy more picks... or something... |
so is it dropping them or what?
Hmmmm, to be honest, i've never heard the phrase "5th pocket" used. What the hell is that? I have a few guesses, but none i'm willing to say and make a fool of myself. |
it means your assho...... Uh... I mean the little pocket on the right side of jeans |
Hahahahahahahahahaha oh man. I thought that was what it might mean, but the asshole thing came to mind, which i knew you were joking if it was true, and also i thought about just dropping a couple in your underware. Wow. |
I usually use up one a week over three practices, two a week if there's a show in there. Half the time I just lose the one I'm using at a show. |
I stuck the little pastic pick despencers I got from matts music onto the back of my guitar headstocks. each hold like 2 dunlop jazz 3 stiffos |
.88mm nylon kiddies!! 1mm nylon for bass, GRRRR! |
Hahahahahahaha, yesterday I went to a music store and found these picks made by Dunlop called Stubbies. The things are 3mm thick, hahahaha, so I got two of them just so I could own them. |

the jazz pics are 1.38 mm thick |
Jazz 3s are great for trem picking and harmonics, I seem to get better controll over a small pick. I use the black jazz 3s, they are made of stiffo and are a little less slippery than the red nylon ones.
dunlop just started making those powdery tortex picks the same size as the jazzs |
