there is more to metal (and other types) than just soloing!! rhythm is EXTREMEly important. If you're a lead player you still spend 90 percent of the time playing rhythm |

mikael akerfeldt is an amazing guitarist, he may not solo as fast or as technically as people like mr azagthoth, etc. but he has a much wider range of musical ability in his guitar work which in my opinion is the most important part of any musical instrument
the same can be said for anders bjorler and peter lindgren too |

i feel the same way about mikael akerfeldt's playing. he is my favorite guitarist. for some reason i don't consider him a death metal guitarist. people always forget peter lindgren, but he plays some pretty impressive shit too. |

ya he cant really be categorized, he is just an amazing musician, i dont consider opeth strictly death anyway its like... i dont know, it's what music is supposed to be, it contains both ends of the musical spectrum and everything in between |
