This CD is intense, brand new Porcupine Tree out with backup vocals and guitar leads done by Mikael Åkerfeldt. the cd is called deadwing, and i'm not even sure if it's out in stores yet. you can get the full album at this russian website i found about a year ago (http://www.mp3search.ru/artist.html?id=19818). pretty decent way to download full cds cheap off the internet. it's like 10 cents a song, but you can normally get a cd 2 weeks to a month earlier than it comes out in stores. the selection is decent, too.
if you like anything along the lines of dredg you need to own this cd. if you don't know who dredg is you need to own the cd called El Cielo. if you like rock and artisticly written and well thought out structures, buy both cds and tell me what you think. if you like Mikael, it's worth buying deadwing just to listen to his guitar leads and riffs.

i love porcupine tree, but they need more emotion. i understand the whole blank slate/numbness thing they've got going, but you simply can't sustain an album for an hour with nothing going. i've heard deadwing and so far it sounds just like signify to me with less chances taken.

but thats only after 2 listens, so you never know.

they're earlier stuff is much better, check out signify it has more emotion on that, i perfer their earlier stuff cause alot of the tracks we're just random noises, not actual songs like In Absentia,a good band to space out too, or take mushrooms too

porcupine tree is one of my favorite bands and main influences. i think there is a high level of emotion in their music. i've had deadwing for a few weeks now and i don't think any other album will unseat it as best album of 2005 in my opinion. deadwing reminds me of stupid dream in some ways. porc tree never disappoints me. what a great band.

all you fuckers need to listen to dredg, especially mr. emotion.

how generic is it to say you like their earlier stuff. you could not even know a band and be like "ya dude, i like their earlier stuff" but dredg is amazing and i've heard one song off new porc tree and it definetely has emotion, so...

my friend gave me dredg's stuff last year and i liked it. not one of my favorite bands, but they are very good. also, i like how anonymous said porc tree like i did. that's what true fans call them. everyone who doesn't call them porc tree is a poser.

also, what's wrong with saying you like a band's older stuff? i like older in flames more than the music they currently make. am i generic because i don't think the newer shit compares to jester race?

i love dredg.

you can't deny that porcupine tree's music is supposed to be intentionally grey/mellow/space out. i know its their thing, i'm just saying that it doesn't always work out so well...i feel like a lot of the porcupine tree albums are hit or miss. again, i've only heard deadwing twice so far.

I need to get this. Shallow sounded pretty good when I heard it a few months back. My favorite Tree album is Lightbulb Sun.

I got my ticket and almost accidentally thought it was spam and trashed it. There was no ticketmaster logo on the god damn thing anywhere! Inside had a netflix ad covering the ticket. Luckily my mom checked it out before throwing it out. OOPS. haha.
