Saturday December 10th: Torche, Backstabbers Inc., Tides, Harbor, Goodbye Cruel World @ "The Alley", Boston University, 775 Commonwealth Ave.
Torche: The newest hyped band from Robotic Empire, the label that has brought us everyone from Pg 99 and A Life Once Lost, to more recent releases like Kayo Dot. Torche feature Steve Brooks and Juan Montoya of the legendary Floor, and along with two newbies, create some of the heaviest, yet catchiest stoner/doom metal I have ever heard.

Here's what other people have to say:
"one of the heaviest fucking bands you'll hear all year..." - Decibel magazine
"fluid, feedback-drenched psychedelic pop and way uptempo crushers amongst the brutal down tuned bruisery... this album takes the catchy, noisy indie rock we grew up on (Dinosaur Jr., Cell, Sub Pop, My Bloody Valentine...) and mutates into this insanely heavy , awesomely anthemic, sludge/pop indie-metal juggernaut" - Crucialblast.com
"it would appear nothing can stop these Floridians from bringing heavy, heart-stopping music to the masses. With a live performance that is guaranteed to leave jaws on the floor...no one can touch these guys." - Stonerrock.com
Backstabbers Inc: Hailing from New Hampshire BSI feature two of the most honestly pissed off and bummed out dudes in hardcore. For seven years or so the brothers Matt and Brian Servin have been writing discordant anthems that are too fucked up and chaotic for the strict hardcore listener, but too rooted in Black Flag for your average metal fan. People finally caught on a few years ago and after an early discography was released on Black Market Activities (Guy from the Red Chord's label), Backstabbers found a home on Trash Art! Records with their newest release Kamikaze Missions (produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge). This is the bands first New England show after their recent US tour.

Here's what other people have to say:
"Backstabbers Inc.'s Kamikaze Missions was the hardcore record of 2004" - Lambgoat.com
"This quintet recall the spastic conglomeration of Tragedy one minute, His Hero Is Gone the next and old crusty Neurosis to wrap it up. With a name like theirs, you'd only expect the most pent up, violent din that disenfranchised youth could unleash, and this lot deliver." - Terrorizer Magazine
"Not many bands of this genre (or in metal for that matter) have been able to bring out such anxiety and fear in the listeners, but BSI does and that seems to be their secret weapon. Scary shit, indeed." - Unrestrained Magazine
Tides: Originally from Plattsburgh, NY, this band has been slowly but steadily relocating their members to the Boston area. Their debut CD, "Resurface" (released on the local TDB Records) has been receiving critical acclaim in the metal and ambient community's and their live set puts all Johnny come lately Isis clone bands to shame.

Here's what others have to say:
"a firm favorite on the rock sound stereo...what an impressive piece of wreckage!"
Rocksound Magazine (UK)
"this young band has all the pieces to elbow their way into the crowd of Isis, Pelican and Neurosis with an air of confidence and the musical ability to match...deserves your undivided active listening skills." Metalreview.com
"Dirge-y fuzzy stoner grooves, huge undulating riffs with wailing keening melodies, majestic and mournful, relentless and epic, often splintering into stretches of blissy tripped out space rock, and sublime dreamy interludes of subtle drumming and acoustic guitar, slow building and gorgeously propulsive. Definitely one of our new favorites." -Aquariusrecords.org
Harbor: A newer band out of the recently energized Syracuse scene, Harbor play Godspeed inspired chill out metal. Layering three guitar players, a bassist, drums, synth, samples and a light show, this band forage their own sound and create their own atmosphere inside a venue.

Goodbye Cruel World: This band is a newer solo project by Matt Servin from Backstabbers Inc. The sound is equally the grind of Nasum and the frantic electronics of Atari Teenage Riot. Lights flash, Matt runs around, people stare in awe. Get psyched!
