I know this has been posted up here before, but I haven't thought of this guy in a while. I went back through and read it trying to see if there was any mentions of floods in the future, or anything about fuel prices.

Pretty interesting read, but I think eventually it was proven somehow to be a hoax. I think they traced back to his "family" in florida and it turned out to be involved with Disney Corp. who were in the process of writing a movie or game where the main charachter was "john titor".

I admit, it had me going for a while.

It's about a guy who showed up on a few time travel messageboards saying he was from the future. People freaked out a few years later after he "returned to the future" when a whole bunch of the shit he predicted started happening, like the y2k scare, 911, the wars abroad, the tarnishing of america's worldwide reputation, etc....

it was PROVEN to be a hoax... there was a book that documented this guy's whole act on the message board.

There was a book published, but it had nothing to do with disproving anything. It was just like the website, a collection of all Titor's postings and cross references.

He was originally thought disproven because on the messageboards a man began posting saying he was the attourny working for the family of John Titor and was in charge of handling the rights to John Titor. This later was traced back to disneycorp, who owned the rights, and also paid for the hosting on several of the servers and sites selling titor merch and supporting his efforts.

More recently, he has been further disproven when the SAME person logged in the SAME IP began posting on the messageboards trying to convince people they are in fact a space-alien.

i remember reading the message board a while ago and i was inspired. i remember reading the whole thread and then i was totally disappointed at one point because something totally disproved it. i think the guy confessed or something.... oh well... whatever.
