hot damn, this software is sweet.

I've never used Protools but I'll bet its dick shrinks when faced with Logic's DSP's

if anyone used L7 in a metal project I'd like to hear soundclips of your results.

only problem with logic is its mac only, thats why Ive never tried it although I hear it really excels as a midi sequencer

toggletoggle post by litacore   at Sep 14,2006 12:40pm
I'm using a Mac, Windows is for the workplace.

I think MOTU's Digital Performer is mac-only, as well.

It doesnt matter what "software" you use to record. Its not going to sound any different. It could be Prostools, DP, cubase or sonar. They all offer up 192kbps sample rates, rtas/vst etc. plugins etc. Now tape, thats differnat, because it is a totally differnat beast over digital files(natural compression and that would change the sound). What does make a huge differnace is Ad/da converters, preamps, mics and engineer with a good ear.
The only differnce between software is how they run, there workarounds etc.

I am not arguing.
Larisa did ask to "hear" soundclips which involves listening.
Unless, this Logic 7 is like a barebones program and you cant use 3rd party plugins and junk.

I like protools because it puts NO stress at all on your computer. It has it's own processing cards and takes care of it's self. the only thing the computer runs is plug in's. Other than the price I think protools HD dominates.

I use Mackie/alesis mixer preamp inserts into a Delta 10/10 ad/da at 24/192 into a moderately stable pc running Sony Vegas with 1.5 gigs of ram, and Waves VST plug-ins.

I got a delta 10/10 and a delta 44. What do you think of the 1010?

I'm another ProTools guy, and yeah software doesn't change sound quality (aside from plug-ins). Use whatever software you're comfortable with, they can all produce the same end product with the right hardware.

I'm using the MOTU Ultralite (10 ins/12 outs) for the Firewire interface

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Sep 15,2006 8:18am
I prefer cubase, but, it's all a matter of what your comfortable using.

Logic is sweet, I can't knock it, and Protools is bad ass as well.

for hardware, I have an M-Audio Delta 1010LT for my interface, I need a mixing console for it now though the way I'm setting it up. any suggestions for a multi-out console?

individual line outs or digital out? the new mackie onyx line can be equiped with firewire outs on all channels. but you need to buy the fire wire card seperate and the outs are pre eq. i think alesis has a fire wire console too.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Sep 15,2006 8:53am
I was hoping for individual line outs, but I'm starting to think about heading in the firewire direction...

toggletoggle post by Josh_hates_you  at Sep 15,2006 9:04am
most any mixing boards will have inserts on every channel. you can use those as a direct outs if you dont need the insert for anything. with firewire you would have either 8 or all of your channels patched out with one cable but you can still track them all seperately if you have enough inputs on your interface. then you need to consider the converters.

I like it, for what it is, a simple converter/interface.
Seems to reproduce pretty clean, and Ive had no prbs, so far.

SWEEEEET. You must tell me how those sound. Are they slightly scooped in the low mids like my PS-8's ? I am assuming you got an 002, got any pre's yet?

toggletoggle post by DeOdiumMortis  at Sep 16,2006 2:16pm
They sound awesome, they have the softest most un-fatiguing but still very present high end I've heard from a pair of monitors. Aside from that I don't have anything new, can't afford anything else after buying those and the 002r. I'll take a pic of my desk some day though, it's pretty unique though underequipped.

I'd like to know what 3rd party plugins (if any) work flawlessly w/ Logic 7.2, can anyone give me a list of these?

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Sep 19,2006 12:55pm
the company i use to work for just got those new MacPro's and they ran that program. it was impressive...
