I listened to Bath and Leaving Your Body Map back to back today for the drive to and from buying stuff from Niccolai. Damn, this band had some creativity.

they're not around anymore as most of you know.

here's their posthumous myspace for those who haven't heard them.

interesting

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Dec 11,2006 8:26pm
I'll bump this because no one else appreciated since it was drama week.

toggletoggle post by thegreatspaldino   at Dec 11,2006 9:33pm
most under-appreciated band ever

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Dec 11,2006 9:43pm
I guess this thread is yet another piece of evidence toward that point.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Dec 12,2006 6:17am
Bump.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Dec 12,2006 6:24am
Appreciated, their demos too, very understated and I feel better than the albums.

toggletoggle post by archaeon at May 3,2008 11:42pm
oh my, the other guitar player in archaeon played this to me today. fucking amazing.

toggletoggle post by blue  at May 3,2008 11:46pm
havent heard this band in years.

dudes are in kayo dot now.

toggletoggle post by christopher at May 3,2008 11:48pm
I love these albums. Two of my favorites. I've listened to them consistently for years now.

toggletoggle post by thegreatspaldino   at May 4,2008 1:09am
Kayo Dot cant touch Maudlin, unfortunately, but that doesnt mean i dont like Kayo, i have both their albums (and i have their 3rd one downloaded, i dont think its out yet)

toggletoggle post by archaeon at May 4,2008 8:56am
Fuck, bath and leaving your body map are like the same thing. this rules

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at May 4,2008 11:47pm
only Toby is left in Kayo Dot. Greg and all other ex-Maudlin people have since quit.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at May 4,2008 11:54pm
awesome band. i like it much better than Kayo Dot

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 15,2009 3:05am
listening to Leaving Your Body Map right now. There's are some really ingenious creative songs on these albums. I don't know how I feel about Kayo Dot, but this album along with its counterpart Bath have got to be some of the most unique releases to ever come out of MA.
didn't they record their first record at Umass Amherst?

toggletoggle post by archaeon at Feb 15,2009 5:16am
This is my favorite band ever.

What are they doing now? Jazz, disco?

toggletoggle post by brian_dc nli at Feb 15,2009 10:14am
someone from kayo dot is in Ehnhare. Appparently Maudlin of the Well is making a new album. I'd find the details, but I'm lazy and don't feel like linking

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 15,2009 11:17am
Yea, their Metal-Archives said they were "Changed Name"
but it recently changed back to "Active."

Anyway, their stuff is a very interesting blend of all styles of music. It's definitely not for everyone.

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Feb 15,2009 11:36am
Maudlin decided to record a new album if people were willing to contribute monetarily to the recording and then they would release it online. Some guy donated enough money for them to record and print cd's. I don't think it's all new material though. Some old unreleased stuff, I know for sure. I can't wait.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Feb 15,2009 11:39am
check out baliset, greg's current band. our bass player dana has been jamming on the songs with him but isn't on the recordings.

I just talked to Toby via e-mail.....

it's possible to book Maudlin of the Well........but is it worth it?

Who wants to see this band?

toggletoggle post by Archaeon at May 15,2010 4:22pm
I'd pay a substantial amount of money to see this band

toggletoggle post by ArilliusBM  at May 15,2010 4:29pm
i would

toggletoggle post by MikeofdecrepitudE at May 15,2010 4:32pm
Glad I got to see them live.

toggletoggle post by Spaldino at May 15,2010 4:34pm
i would suck a dick to see Maudlin of the Well live.

toggletoggle post by MikeofdecrepitudE at May 15,2010 4:36pm edited May 15,2010 4:36pm
It's worth mentioning that Kayo Dot's Coyote is a fantastic album.

toggletoggle post by Spaldino at May 15,2010 4:38pm
Kayo Dot is definitely neat as fuck.

toggletoggle post by bloblovesmusic at May 15,2010 4:47pm
Josh, you should book Baliset. Greg Massi of Maudlin's project. Great prog rock/metal type stuff, translates beautifully live and they like doing shows!

Greg's a buddy of mine if you want me to send him an heads up.

toggletoggle post by josh_hates_you  at May 15,2010 5:57pm
baliset is neat. booking them is easy. booking kayo dot is easier than motw

maudlin involves flying in members from other parts of the country. I'm thinking I'd have to book at least a providence and boston show to make said efforts worthwhile.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at May 15,2010 8:13pm
Greg and I had the same guitar teacher. Back when my band sucked he said the playing was good, but the metalcore stuff had to go.

Man was so correct. Thank you for the wisdom, Sir Baliset.

toggletoggle post by sinistas   at Sep 1,2011 10:59am
Greg's leads on Baliset's "Black Light Moon" are fucking awesome.
