and i found the first full length on broken wings cd and i noticed that some of the bands in the "listen to these bands" section were In Dire Need and Terminally Your Aborted Ghost.
i found that interesting

TYAG is simply amazing. I hate On Broken Wings though.

hence why it may say that.

He was in Upon Crimson Wings.

Pretty much the same thing though.

ugh...keith how the hell can you say that?!

i was actually in a band called upon crimson wings that was around for about 4 years in the same area as OBW. we had the name for about a year or so before we started seeing the name "on broken wings" on flyers all over the place. it is argued by some that they "borrowed" our name, and some say that it is just a coincidence. i personally don't give a fuck since we were melodic metal and they were, at the time, 18 visions styled suck-core.

i dont listen to that type of stuff, so its close enough to be the same thing, to me.

ill give myself points for being close.

you should have changed your name to riding crimson river.

we were actually going for "upon chicken wings" at one point, or as hooker renamed us, "upon crizzie wizzpies," which clearly is the best.

here's a fun fact since we're on the topic of on broken wings (that i'm pretty sure i've posted here a few times before, but oh well):

in november of 2000, i went to a friend's birthday party; her boyfriend andy was in a rapcore band called the sweeps, with jon blake (singer of OBW) and john earl (aka johnny cupcakes, dj/samples for OBW). they asked if i would play guitar for them, after saying that they were "crazy metal...you know, like crazy town." i told them no, and that i already had a band called upon crimson wings. jon replied, "oh that's a cool name."

so it's easy to assume they "borrowed" the name from us, but there were also a handful of bands at that time with similar names (i.e. wings of scarlet). i guess we screwed ourselves with that one, haha.

did they steal a breakdown or a sample from your band mark

nope. we weren't even close to the same style of music; we were melodic metal so we didn't even have breakdowns, nor samples.

i say you should get back together and play 'wings fest' with on broken wings and have the texas pete mascot handing out free chicken wings

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Jan 9,2007 6:22pm
come to think about it....
maybe they threw out TYAG's name cause they borrowed your other bands name?

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jan 9,2007 6:24pm
hahaha...wings fest would be treacherous except for the chicken wings. mmm mmm.

i think they thanked TYAG because they played shows together, after i quit and before i rejoined though, haha.

i recall being pretty young and you and bill flipping the fuck out over on broken wings sucking so bad....another funny story...one night i was at the mall and i had a morbid angel sweatshirt on when i was approached by a few of the obw dudes they said "dude if you like morbid angel you'll like our band man wicked intense metal like that" i went home and listened to them and i dont think i need to tell you they sounded nothing like morbid angel.

haha, it was probably more bill than me, and bill wasn't even in the band. he's an intense person, as you know. i used to make fun of them a lot of course, but i was actually cool with a few of the members of the band. i used to talk to the guitarist mike all the time and say stuff like "hey, i just want to let you know that even though we're cool and everything...it doesn't make me like your band," haha. he seemd ok with it.
