yeah so there was a book i had in college a rare one...details in another thread...anyhow...i actually found it on a site that sells rare books

so i bought it..well at least i thought i did...

i got a confirmation and everything

and then..

nothing

but they took my money...

so i emailed them

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. I went on the
site and saw the book :Without a Parachute" by David Fenario available. The date was November 21..I saw it and ordered it and paid through paypal. I even received a confirmation, which I am pasting
below. When was it sold to someone else? Additionally,
rather than me getting my $10 reimbursed, I just
received a $10 payment into my paypal account and so I
was charged a paypal fee and in fact did not even get
my full $10 back and instead received 9.31..ok it's change but
it's the principle here (no i'm not looking for my money back...I wanted the book)...Finally, in the email regarding the $10 return it stated:

he emailed me back:

Dear Carina,
Sorry about the screw-up. I sell books through four internet companies, and
two of those companies sell my books through other companies. Having said
that, it is very rare that orders from two companies, from different people,
for the same book, come over the same couple of days. This is what happened
with yours and I apparently approved it twice, not realising it was
different orders. The other order came in before yours, and that was why
they got it. Although I e-mailed through a cancelation, once I realised my
mistake, it obviously did not go through.
As far as PayPal goes, I did not realise that you would be debited. I
thought only the sender pays. Please let me know what I can do to put you at
ease. If there is anything else in my inventory (www.come.to/flotsam) that
you are interested in, let me know and I will ship for free or something
like that.

Wow, that sucks. Is it a really good book or something?

there are only 100 copies in print or something...

it's a journal this guy kept in college for a class...and it's a college i went to for a while...the guy was basically a bum..and then he discovered writing..his teacher helped him publish it and he went on to become a famous montreal playwright..he's really awesome...and in college my english teach gave me their only copy

then i was dumb and lent it out...and then i moved away...

it's a great book and if i ever find it..i will make photocopies and who ever wants to read it...can..lol


edit: yes it is awesome..imagine a "bum" or a self proclaimed loser keeping a journal...it's brilliant
