I havent had a TV for almost 3 months but I just moved into my new place in Hull which has cable!
So, last night I had my Coors Lights lined up, the pipe was packed and I was all ready to be entertained by the box of images...
What did I find?
ESPN sucks...plain and simple. I guess I hadn't been missing much.

During my tv session, I realized I may as well have been watching 'TMZ with fucking stats' quantifying the parabola on Jessica Simpson's new nose job, and or pontificating her past unrequited love etc etc..you get the point.

I love sports, always have, always will. To me it's life in miniature. symbolic, metaphorical. Some of you will differ, but I prob gave you a swirley in highschool.

More to the point, ESPN is ruining sports with what I find to be lame, milk toast esq journalism, outrageous spin and a penchant for desperation when it comes to "breaking news." Who is Mel Kiper Jr., who is Mike Greenberg, what the fuck is a Stewart Scott? Who are the so called experts? What are their credentials? Why and how do they garner the money they do.....merely speculating? Joe shit the rag man at the bar down the road has watched every inning of red sox baseball for 36 years. How is he not qualified to make six figures, wear a double breasted blazer and speak with hubristic conviction, as though he has played every inning of those 36 years?

I remember an ESPN in its youth. Unaware of it's own power and prowess. It was something akin to when MTV first came out. Both were cool, influential, important, edgy, and entertaining...but that was along time ago.

Tom Brady said it best. ESPN is MTV without the videos.

Sportscenter has turned into nothing but propaganda and slander. I've barely watched a full hour of SC since the Super Bowl when I used to watch it every morning. It's sickening how they portray some things.

Yeah, I think the worst hit was Outside the Lines which used to have some great sports journalism. Now it's just Sportscenter with a fatter anchor.

I agree with you, but the fact that ESPN 2 covered the Champions League final in HD and almost the entirety of the Euro Championships this summer in HD makes that network irreplaceable.

Agreed on that, no more stealing pay-per-view like I did for Euro 2004.
