No IMDB because everytime I got there my computer tries to open infinate tabs.

So for the last 8 years I have been asking people about this movie. "Hey do you remember that movie with the big fucking monster and the kid shoots a model rocket into it to kill it.... you know, he grew an eye on his hand and stabbed it?" and everyone would always say no. Well, I finally asked the right person, found the name, and snagged the dvd. I am pumped.

Anyone else like this movie? I remember being scared shit at like 8 or 9 years old watching this shit. Maybe even younger.

The second one involves playing metal records backwards.
Serious 80s

Wow, I forgot all about this movie. I need to see it again.

toggletoggle post by kevord  at Jul 6,2008 10:38am
You can probably find the dvd on ebay. I bought it at circuit city years ago.

toggletoggle post by chris_from_shit_fuck  at Jul 6,2008 11:02am
great movie, Stepehn dorff rules in it. The sequel is all right too, nothing special but defenitly at least worth checking out if you enjoyed the original.

Josh you never asked me. I had it for such a long time at my house.

toggletoggle post by seth at Jul 6,2008 1:30pm
Back then that was the only movie the had real metal/thrash on it, besides the rivers edge with slayer's hell awaits soundtrack...sick little film!

toggletoggle post by Mess at Jul 6,2008 1:37pm
i bought it at newbury comics a while ago for 5 bucks. it was/is one of my favorite horror movies growing up.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jul 6,2008 1:38pm
Really? I always thought this movie was more on the kiddie side of attempted horror.

toggletoggle post by BobNOMAAMRooney nli at Jul 6,2008 2:43pm
Wasn't there a thread about this movie three years ago?

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jul 6,2008 3:03pm
There was a LOT of stuff on this site 3 years ago, that does not exist today.
Like half of the contributing posters.
And good fun.
Of course that was the dawn of the Emo era, that has ruined most of music and the entire internerd.

Well that's the thing, it's meant for kids and kids liked it, me for example. If I saw it now I might not be so crazy about it.

Last I heard from Sean, chillin in a Eco-Friendly van down by the river in the shithole of Pawtucket.

I haven't seen it in years, but I remember this movie ruling hard. They unlock the gate by playing a metal record backwards. That's fucking awesome. It makes me wonder how movies went from awesome shit like this to the Wedding Planner.

toggletoggle post by monster_island  at Jul 7,2008 8:51am
how about the claymation ?? super high tech for the times .. dude or zombie ( vaguely remember ) falls to the ground and turns into a bunch of little goblins ?? ... i do remember going to the movies and watching the gate every friday night for like two month straight in jr high ... havent seen it since but did the kid in the movie have a Venom backpatch ??? i know he had something metal there haha

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jul 7,2008 9:25am
I think the name of the band was like Killer Dwarves or something.

Something Hollywood would come up with for a metal band name.

and apparent remake too !!
"Source: JoBlo by: Dave Davis

It's a good thing they made plenty of movies in the 1980s -- that means there are still a few left to be remade!

We're hearing that a remake of the suburban horror cheapie THE GATE is the latest to get a modern facelift. Word is that Randall William Cook will direct the update, and he's certainly qualified for monster mayhem -- he's an Oscar-winning FX guru who worked on KING KONG and the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy... not to mention the original THE GATE and its sequel. The plan is reportedly to shoot the new version in all-the-rage 3-D. No mention yet on a writer or studio, but considering Cook's WETA background, could Peter Jackson's involvement be far behind? "

and here are those little guys that the zombie turns into

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jul 7,2008 4:25pm
Haha I hope they play Drowning Pool backwards on someone's iPod and it opens the gate to hell. Hooray for remakes.

toggletoggle post by kevord  at Jul 7,2008 4:58pm
