I've still got a ton of proof reading to do, so if you see any glaring mistakes let me know. Otherwise I've spent the last week working on this, and I'm pretty anxious to finally get it done.

before I forget (cause I'm still reading), but there are a few typos or copy/paste errors in your Sidbury analysis

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Apr 16,2009 2:21pm
I already fixed the Sidbury thing. Hit refresh maaaaaaaaaaaan.

no Nic Harris (SS/LB hybrid from Oklahoma)?

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Apr 16,2009 2:51pm
ok....fuck Harris...Patrick Chung is my guy....what a fucking beast

toggletoggle post by Mattkings at Apr 16,2009 3:27pm
The guy jumping out of the pool is insane.

Mike, because of you, if the Pats don't draft Chung and Gilbert, I'll be disappointed...lol

The more I look the more I find guys that need to be added to the list. Look for updates on Ron Brace (DT Boston College), and Christopher Owens (CB - San Jose State).

Have the pats worked out Nic Harris? I haven't heard his name come up in any workout or meeting talks.

Always a possibility we could get them both. I think with the depth there is at safety in this draft class they're going to go looking for one somewhere in the second round, and that points to Patrick Chung, Chip Vaughan, or maybe even William Moore.

I don't know that they worked out Harris, but I like the tweener aspect of his game....

.......but now I like Chung infinitely more

The whole two position thing sounds like a good idea, but I think in this case it's a bad one. The story on Harris (as I'm just reading now) is that he worked out as a safety in the combine but ran a 4.86 in the 40. Way too slow to be a safety in the NFL. So now he's entering the draft as an OLB.

Brace and Owens added.

oh, I didn't know that....well then, now I feel like reiterating:

Aight...

Rey Maualuga I could see them taking if he's still on the board. I don't get the instincts agruements with him though. A bunch of people think he's the man at reading plays while the rest think he's not good at it. Which is it with this guy?! I'm more in the "he's a natural at reading plays" camp and I could see him dropping to the Pats due to questions about his injury.

Robert Ayers is a dude I don't know much about, but the more I see, the more I like.

Jarron Gilbert and Conner Barwin make me nervous. Physical studs, but you hit the nail on the head with one mention: Vernon Gholston

Larry English I think could be a great player. I wonder about Belichick's mindfuck games enough where I woiuldn't be surprised if you're right and he IS screwing with the rest of the NFL's draft boards.

Sidbury has popped up in a couple of sport magazine sleeper lists I've seen in the past month. This guy could be something special.

Butler, Davis and Jenkins are boner-city for the Pats, but I honestly think most of them could be gone before the Pats 23rd pick comes up. As for the rest of the CBs listed, I honestly think the Pats might be done draft cornerbacks under six feet.

Louis Delmas and Patrick Chung, either one would be great pick-ups at Safety.

For OT, what about Andy Levirte (sp?)

Andre Smith is a monster. Problem is, he's a monster who also smells of crazy. Bill don't like assholes or mental patients.

All your DT's listed are solid, but I don't think you'll see a DT getting drafted by the Pats this year.

Pat White is gonna get snatched up and used in some weirdass ways by the Patriots. I can totally see some Wildcat-hybrid kind of plays ending up in Bill's playbook. He'd be great for reverses and "holy shit, the running back just threw a screen pass after taking a fake direct snap" kinda gadget plays.

I'm not that hot on the WR class, but who knows? They could grab a dude like Knox and suddenly he's torching defences.

They have to draft someone at RB. Maroney is KILLING ME.

In general, I think the Pats could make out like bandits this seas if two things happen.
1. A good draft this year.
2. All the young guys drafted last year who got hurt and barely played at all turn out to be what people think they will be or already are (I.E. Crable, Wheatley, ect).
They would then have an instant influx of fresh blood they couldn't use last year, which would catch a lot of teams off guard.
Plus, I honestly think Jerod Mayo is gonna be twice as good this year. He is going to terrify offensive lines, lay out QBs and has yet to even go heavy on blitzing and dropping back for picking off passes.

Totally agree

I think his point was these guys AREN'T Gholston in that Gholston mainly relied on his athletic ability to get by in college, while Barwin and Gilbert actually have skill. I was actually ecstatic when the Jets drafted Gholston because I knew he wasn't what alot of people made him out to be.

for whatever reason, he doesn't do it for me...he definitely has the potential to be a very good player, but something about doesn't feel right to me when I watch him

I think one of the virtual locks in this draft is that Jenkins doesn't get by the Saints at 14.......Davis could go alot of places, but I think if he's still there at pick 22, the Vikings will nab him, because they are one of the few teams that need secondary help more than the Pats do....Butler is a guy I love, and I think he could be there at 23 for the Pats...some people are projecting him in the 2nd round, and I just don't see how he falls that far with his skills

Dankill said[orig][quote]

I wouldn't be disappointed if they drafted Delmas, but Chung looks like he could be something special in the Pats system

Levitre is another one I'm personally high on, possible late 2nd-3rd round guy.....but I'm pretty sure he's a Guard

I had an argument with a friend of mine over Smith a few days ago....he seemed to think the Pats could possibly trade up for this guy, and while he definitely has the physical traits to be something, his actions off the field scare me....between what he did at the combine and firing his agent a few days ago, I don't think Smith is someone the Pats will target unless he falls to 23....they definitely won't trade up for him though

I think Taylor, coupled with Morris and Faulk, is a good stop gap giving Maroney one more year to figure it out.....but I think Maroney is on a VERY short leash this year

I agree with you here.....its very exciting to see what they already have from last year's draft, then couple that with who they could potentially get this year's draft, along with who they signed this offseason.....cthey should be very dangerous for years to come

BTW, I still think the Pats could snag Clay Matthews if he makes it to 23.

Dan, great comments. If you want to get your mind blown on inconsistencies then check out the profile in Chris Baker (DT - Hampton).

Brown would be good here, but like you said he'll be off the board by the time the Pats would want him.

I was working on the updates before I went to bed last night, and right before my head hit the pillow I though "Hmmmm maybe I'll do a mock draft."

Long story short, I don't think I actually fell asleep until about 1:30 in the morning. Ugh.

lol wow....your commitment should be commended

I started on my mock... it'll be ready in time for the 2011 draft.
