Introduced by a MA state rep. Just hit the link and put in your info to contact your rep. Otherwise someday your ISP will block you from downloading metal albums because AT&T will have them by the balls.

more people will buy albums now. OH NO! NOT THAT!

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Aug 3,2009 2:32pm
my isp is charter and not at&t.

toggletoggle post by darkwork at Aug 3,2009 2:41pm
AT&T is a major backbone provider of major hubs of Internet traffic in North America, along with Covad and others. They probably lease traffic to Charter. ISPs like Charter, Cox, etc. are simply internet service resellers - they sell you plain spring water with a Charter sticker on it.

toggletoggle post by darkwork at Aug 3,2009 2:45pm
also, it doesn't matter what your ISP is, that was just an example, i don't care if you steal wireless from your grandma, net neutrality affects everybody.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 3,2009 2:48pm
people should be free to do whatever they want to on the internet. nobody should be able to mandate what you do with your free time. goes for everything.

toggletoggle post by darkwork at Aug 3,2009 2:53pm
right, and it goes way beyond free time, it's total freedom of information, and protection of the free flow of information from corporate interest.

the internet: it's fucking great.

Welcome to Internet 2

i must say, I was dealing with AT&T all weekend over some cell phone stuff. AT&T SUCKS. They all suck. Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. They all act like they don't have enough money, but when you're a LOYAL customer that pays everytime they still give you a hard time. I can't stand Corporate Communications Companies.

Monopoly galore.

i'm all for this bill but i never really thought the ISPs would do this in the first place. I mean we've been hearing about them doing this for 4 years and never saw any sort of blocking of websites or content.

toggletoggle post by darkwork at Aug 3,2009 3:10pm
Backed.

I would love to see more smaller independent cell phone providers in competition. But all the big corporations with their huge reserves of money is the reason why I can use my cell phone almost anywhere.

well for example, comcast throttles bittorrent traffic, solely because they collect money from the movie industry to do so. this bill would make that illegal.

and that recent issue with AT&T blocking 4chan "for some policy violation" and the shitstorm among people that created - they retracted quick.
