Henry is pretty much my favorite player ever. So it's disappointing.
I don't think he meant to handle the ball initially, but pushing it back in play was definitely intentional. I'd like to see France offer up a replay of the game. It's been done before in club competition.
But it won't happen.
The better team got through. People are boycotting the products that Henry endorses. The Irish are all drinking.

Hi guys. I like soccer because it frail men kicking a big ball around. Turns me on. Best sport ever.

Hi guys. I like posting anonymously on forums and talking shit because I AM a piece of shit. I'm a walking, talking vagina that will never EVER get laid with anything that doesn't walk on four legs or I haven't paid for. I spend my free time trying to make people feel like losers so that maybe I'll cry a little bit less than usual when I'm masturbating alone in my parents basement to a picture of my sister.
If you mean something about when it's played, there pretty much is no offseason. Club seasons go from August to May. Even numbered years there are international Cups.
Except for the MLS, they play in the football offseason because the league can barely hold water.

I agree with Brian.
Henry is one of my favorite players, dude is total class. While he definitely intentionally handled the set-piece ball (free-kick into the box...which is that lined area in front of the goalie), he did come right out to players during the game, and to the press after the game, and admitted it. He left the decision to the refs, as it should have been...(a player cannot rescind a goal).
Ireland should a) be able to have a replay, which won't happen (only happens RARELY when a rule is misapplied, not when an infraction is missed, as in this case) or b) sue the fuck out of FIFA because their country will UNDULY lose tons of potential sponsorship/promotion/etc money from missing out on next year's World Cup.
On a side note, last year's Chelsea/Barcelona debacle was refereed by a Norweigan, and the Ireland/France game was ref'd by a Swede. While I am in a relationship with a Swede, and respect Scandinavian football, I think it just that FIFA only allow refs from countries with elite top-tier football leagues (England, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Scotland, maybe even the Ukraine, and Turkey) to oversee such crucial matches. Too many huge mistakes, with lots of money and credibility at stake.
