i'm trying to find a halfway decent midi sequencing program to start making drum machine parts... have a wealth of samples to use but nothing to actually sequence them with. something free would be great... doesn't have to be though.

cubase + ezdrummer

cubase has a pretty easy midi drum editing mode and ezdrummer has lots of premade midi clips you can drag into your tracks then edit

I run Drumkit from Hell 2 and use the midi sequencer on Cubase LE. Since I upgraded my pc the shit runs so fucking good and sounds amazing.

I love and use Reason, but Redrum sucks balls. It doesn't line up to the General MIDI standard drum map, and doesn't allow for multisampling. I use a multisampled kit that I built in the NN-XT sampler, to line up with the parts of the GM drum map that I use (kick, snare, 6 toms, hihat, various cymbals)
