Looking for a bassist, drummer and a violinst or cellist
I'm looking to start a band with some songs I've got penned.
I'm stationed in Massachussetts, 40 minutes south of Boston, 20 north of Providence, and about 10 minutes from Woonsocket - with plenty of space to practice, a P.A., and digital recording capabilities for up to 24 tracks (if I borrow my boy's Alesis, just 4 otherwise - enough to get a general gist of what you're writing).
The songs are folky, but really dark.
I need a drummer that can relax...someone that has enough jazz backround to be good, but not so much that they're completely bored unless they're playing like Elvin Jones. Also, they should be able to NOT relax and play blastbeats like they were in a New York hardcore band. Ha. Free hand jobs if they play a second instrument.
The bassist should be familiar enough with theory that if I lay out a chord progression, they can come up with something besides root notes. If they can play upright as well, I'll blow them.
As far as the strings go, I'm willing to take what I can get. Ha. If you can read the scores that I write out, then you can do it. That isn't to say I'll write it and that's it, if they got something that fits instead of what I wrote I'll obviously use it.
Now, in a perfect world all of these musicians would have some sort of a hardcore/punk/metal backround so that we could easily switch from really aggressive shit to folky darkness and back (and everywhere in between)...that's the dream...but right now, I just want to put these songs together.
If anyone is interested, or knows someone who is lemme know. The sexual favours are not gender-specific. Replace "handjobs" with "manual stimulation" and "I'll blow them" with "I'll spend hours lathering their vagina with the strong muscle" in the case of female musicians.
Should they desire such payment, of course, in either case. It's hardly a requirement.
If you're looking for a list of influences (seems to be what you do when you're looking for a band for your songs I guess):
Leonard Cohen
Dead Kennedys
Public Enemy
Bad Brains
Sick of It All
Bob Dylan
Van Halen
Tribe Called Quest
Metallica
Slayer
Ha.
You get the idea, I hope. Anyone that can help by reposting, please do.
I need to have an at least 2 night a week practice schedule, but I'm willing to play whenever I'm not working since that's what I do by myself anyway.
Oh yeah, I'll be singing and playing acoustic/electric guitar. Maybe doing some skinflute if the bassist plays upright, too.

P.S. - I'm nuts, but creative. And definitely not gay, but if you would have a problem that I was - you're not gonna be in my band. Or my house, most likely.
