Mastadon > Trivium
and for as much as I don't care for trivium, musically their Master of Poopits cover is solid, but Matt's vocals are the weak link. the solo at 3:41 also feels very rushed, and lacks the smooth flowing legatto feel of the original |
These assholes really want to destroy my opinion of the best metal album of all time, don't they?
Fuck.
Not gonna happen. |
trivium and metallica are gay. |
the Orion cover is pretty damn good...but what's the point? |
they're for a Metallica tribute that Kerrang is putting out. |
right, i just think its not a song that needs to be covered. its perfect as is. also, i withdraw my original comment, it sounds like a stoner jam. |
haha...I like in the Trivium covers how obvious it is that for the Kirk Hamster solos that he's playing poorly on purpose. Say what you will about Trivium, I don't like em, but he can play a damn good lead and it's always obvious when a good guitarist is trying to play shitty. |

agreed, he's definately talented, but still dosen't sell me on the band, mainly due to the "better-then-thou" attitudes and the weak vocals.
musically, yes, they're talented, I won't argue that. |
I wonder who's going to cover "St.Anger". |

I didn't know that song was on Master Of Puppets......
anywho....everytime I listen to Trivium, I like 'em...that is....until Matt Heafy opens his mouth, that just kills it for me |

oh my god
Craig
you used to love Metallica so hard. Don't be gay. You loved Master of Puppets. I know this cover album thing is useless and that Metallica is about as cool as the core of the earth but you are a liar.
Though you did like Megadeth more than Metallica, which is fine in my book. |
yes brian you are correct, but you forget that i was 15 and didnt know my ass from my elbow. |

Oh, I totally agree with you on all the reasons you don't like them. I would say that they're musically talented, but I'd say only in terms of technical skill and pop song format writing. They couldn't be creative if they tried. |
haha...Craig...I was a fan of nu-metal until I started playing guitar and hanging out with Toby...but I was 12 and didn't know any better.
oh man...that felt like admitting to fucking a squirrel. |

only slightly more embarassing |

I love how people come up with excuses with why they used to enjoy Metallica. I'm not ashamed of it....I still enjoy listening to the first 5 Metallica albums....I even like a few songs off of Load....and I honestly don't give a shit about what anybody says |

No arguement there...although i got free tickets to see them back in october of 2004...front row at the fleet center....and they werent' that bad live |
everyone's right about the vocals...bahaha
they nailed the music though |

They may have "nailed" the music....but they're not doing anything original with it....it sounds just like the original, they didn't even try to make it their own or try something different |
i don't trivium's bass on the song it ruins it... and i don't like the effect on the vocals it sounds like japanesse anime music... the instuments are good. |
if they had changed any of the music to make it their own they would've ruined it...they probably felt that doing the music note-for-note was a worthy way of showing respect |
i hate how the world has a hard-on for trivium. they're nothing special. |

Listen to the Forsaken's cover of "Blackened" and "Creeping Death" if you want to hear a good example of a band adding it's own personal touch while still showing respect |
