I have a seagate 500GB IDE drive and when it hits one of those things that pops up a confirmation dialog in windows, the drive actually beeps.
weird...

yes, the drive actually beeped. it made the same beep when it connected to the computer and then one when the computer started scanning the drive

I have 4x500GB, 2x250GB, 2x320GB for my storage.

carina has 3x200GB, and 3x500GB (she just got a new 500GB yesterday).

unfortunately, my TV computer's been copying things from the TIVO and it's all backed up with crap.. so both of the 500GB in there are full and I need to put the 500GB sitting in front of me in to that computer.

oops.. I just pulled a USB cable and bounced a running 500GB drive off the ground. it's still working though sort of making some funnier noises now.
