i was gonna wait...but i was too tempted

boy am i glad that i'm listening to this right now

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Mar 9,2007 12:02am
kinda brought the yawns. deleted it from comp after one listen

toggletoggle post by sacreligion at Mar 9,2007 12:03am
really? i'm liking this a lot

toggletoggle post by Anthony nli at Mar 9,2007 12:30am
I think it's entertaining, the drumming is great.

toggletoggle post by y_ddraig_goch  at Mar 9,2007 9:34am
yawn yawn yawn, everything boring unless it involves guttaral grunts and computer generated snare hits.

actually I liked what I heard, but man it's such a short cd, all the songs are 4 minutes or less

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Mar 9,2007 9:45am
i thought the clean vocals were amazing...definitely way different than the other stuff

as opposed to being classical/operatic with the notes all over the place, the clean vocals follow more of a set pattern, but it's still interesting in the sense that it doesn't repeat exactly

i can see why it bores some people, but i'm probably going to get very irritated when people start bitching about how much it sucks even though it doesn't

toggletoggle post by Ryan_M at Mar 9,2007 10:37am
I like it, sounds great, and Hellhammer's a great replacement for Nick Barker.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Mar 9,2007 11:14am
I like it so far.

toggletoggle post by chris_from_shit_fuck  at Mar 9,2007 1:35pm
downloaded it last night, only gave it one listen through so far and I have to say I actually enjoy it.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Mar 9,2007 1:41pm
after a complete spin, I have to say enjoy it. I'll have to give it another few spins, but I'm taking breaks between listens, at the moment I'm enjoying some Darkane

toggletoggle post by thegreatspaldino   at Mar 9,2007 3:56pm
its not so bad... i have to really give it a real listen before judgement can be brought upon it.

mp3 lists don't spin. st00pid.

Nah I'm kidding - I know what you mean!

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Mar 9,2007 4:06pm
I've never been a big dimmu fan...this should be noted.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Mar 9,2007 4:07pm
though I haven't deleted it from the recycle bin...maybe I'll give it one more play from the grave.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Mar 9,2007 4:23pm
listening right now... good but seems a bit lackluster. not their best work.

yup, i saw an interview recently that said they were going in another direction...well i hate to say it they haven't...i mean i like the album but it's just not a puritanical or a stormblast, they need to go back to thier roots...

toggletoggle post by bryan at Mar 10,2007 12:21am
one more note....WAYYYY too much synth, and the guitar work is NOT THAT GOOD!

toggletoggle post by y_ddraig_goch  at Mar 10,2007 1:25am
guitars where never that good. The use of a real symphony was always my draw to the band, and the bass player when he sings.

I like Tvangeste better, far better symphonic black metal band.

toggletoggle post by bryan at Mar 10,2007 1:30am
meh i guess you're right but stormblast did have some catchy riffs

toggletoggle post by sacreligion at Mar 10,2007 2:53am
i think this is way different than death cult...that vibe is definitely there but it's mixed with some puritanical-era stuff and some old man's child sounding riffs(galder probably wrote more than in the past)

i'm definitely liking it the more i listen to it...but i'm a huge dimmu fan so i might be biased

toggletoggle post by sxealex   at Mar 10,2007 12:44pm
as for drums its solid but missing a bit of flare... and yea the riffs are more in that emperor-ish key

on the last 3 albums the guitars were definatly good

toggletoggle post by tylerl  at Mar 10,2007 5:40pm
what i like about dimmu is that you listen to EDT and then PEM and then DCA and they all sound different, thats why i think it's lame that everything, even down to the production on this new one sounds a lot like DCA

toggletoggle post by GoatCatalyst   at Mar 10,2007 6:25pm
listen to the new marduk

toggletoggle post by yeah... at Mar 10,2007 7:45pm
marduk sucks live...it's a fact

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Mar 10,2007 8:17pm
9 songs? Is this it?

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Mar 10,2007 8:23pm
Wow....this good. Very classic Dimmu taken that much further...me rikey!

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Mar 10,2007 8:29pm

toggletoggle post by Dar  at Mar 10,2007 10:35pm
I don't know why but I just find that nothing this band does sticks to my ribs, the songs just roll by for me. I mean they're not awful, I don't hate dimmu, I just never think "I want to hear dimmu borgir!"
They're just almost...mediocre. Hellhammer's drumming is pretty special though, I have some hopes for the new Mayhem

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 11,2007 12:56am

Triggers dont make you drum any faster....they just plant a certain drum sound into a signal.

That signal goes to a pa or recording device, and does nothing for your speed.

i know this but he could have uneven hits and thru drum editing/use of triggers make him sound flawless.

the tempo around there is 140-150ish 32nd notes at 150? thats impossible to pull off.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 11,2007 11:57am
Dood, its hellhammer!!
nothing is impossible.

toggletoggle post by sacreligion at Mar 11,2007 12:04pm
his name IS hellhammer, ya know

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 11,2007 12:27pm
Id like to add, that the orch on this album is gorgeous.

toggletoggle post by sxealex   at Mar 11,2007 1:08pm
triggers do make u able to drum faster. just turn up the sensitivity a tiny bit and tap it the snare ever so lightly. its alot easier to twitch a smaller muscle quickly than a large one.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 11,2007 1:28pm
Well that could be said about electric drums.
Point is, youre still physically hitting said drums in time, right?

toggletoggle post by Kylenli at Mar 11,2007 3:36pm
it sounds like the batman soundtrack.

toggletoggle post by bryan at Mar 17,2007 2:49am
yeah the double bass is pretty ridiculous

toggletoggle post by GoatCatalyst   at Mar 17,2007 3:31am
this is a decent record, but i'm far too concerned with the new marduk, vital remains and kroda cds to give dimmu any extra time
