see what global warming does? its now affecting Mars! YOU SHOULD ALL BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!! i hope Al Gore blames this on earths global warming. if only they had started the reactor, Mars would be free.

I warned you, but no one listened. I knew that the Global Warming racket in this country was a fucking sham, it's seriously just as much about global warming as it is anti-capitalism. They just want to cripple U.S. industries with their fucking man-made warming riff raff. Answer me this all you Inconvenient Truth nut-jobs, are our SUVs and smokestacks warming up Mars too? I guess I don't blame you though, if I actually saw Al Gore's powerpoint slide show of melting glaciers set to climactic hollywood music I'd probably be convinced of it too.

You know you're going to give yourself an embolism on of these days. I don't know where I stand on global warming, but you're not convincing me that pollution is no big deal and a big sham made up by the democrats. That's just not going to happen.

For the record I didn't see Al Gore's movie because it bored me to sleep 20 minutes into it TWICE, so I gave up.

I recall unusually warm weather in early December. This winter was kind of short, and somewhat cold, but not particularly significant compared to winters of the past. Something is awry. An inconvenient truth did makes sense to me, but Mars having similar effects is obviously a bit of a curve ball.

I think the sun has a life span of about 10 billion years, and it's supposedly half way through. Mercury is a dead planet for obvious reasons since it's the closest to the sun. I'm wondering if the sun is warming up, which might explain why Mars is heating up, too. As for Venus, I don't see any data, but it's probably warming up too. Obviously the Earth is warming up at a faster rate than Mars since according to the article Mars warmed up 1 degree between 1970's -1990's. The faster rate of global warming is no doubt this is due to the pollution on our planet. I'm sure there are other factors that contribute to it. This kind of shit happens, but not this fast.

In summary, there are too many fucking people on this planet, and we're bound to crash and burn sooner, rather than later.

a warm winter in no way shape or form signifies climate change. this planet is forever changing every day, we cant expect to have identical weather each season. back when our parents were kids, a warm winter would have been just that, a warm winter. but now, with all this media hype and scare-tactics, a warm winter means the polar ice caps are melting and the ocean is going to rise 300 feet and we are all going to die horribly. if the next 10 winters are all well above average in temperature, then i can see believing that something is off.

and my reference to global warming affecting Mars was entirely a joke. i didnt know it was going to be taken seriously.

The idea that global warming is solely caused by industries and cars is a crock of shit. The earth is massive and the power of it in addition to solar and other influences from space is obviously incomprehensible to all the global warming jihadists. I read an article about a big global warming conference and one of the big wig scientists who push this shit admitted that (under questioning) human involvement is only responsible for 4-5% of the warming taking place. You know what else emits carbon? Breathing. I guess we all have to stop breathing because if we don't WE'RE ALL GONNA FUCKING BURN UP - How will we ever be able to look our children in the eye knowing that we screwed everything up for them?

We seriously give our selfs waaaaaaaaaay too much credit. Shit, in another million years who knows - continents may end up crashing together because of continental drift. Guess we gotta stop that mid-atlantic ridge and bolt together the san andreas fault to stop it! We are not in control of this planet and we can never be. Period.

We are legitimately RUINING the planet with pollution, and by killing off entire species (unfortunately not humans), and exploiting natural resources to the point of extinction among other things. But you're right in that we don't have CONTROL persay.

We're an insignificant grain of sand in this planets history and hopefully we will be long gone far too early for us to have drained this planet entirely...

the earth has gone through natural climatic changes for many eons, in the year 1000 vikings found that there were no winter snows or deep freezes in nefoundland, they didn't even have to stock up hay to feed for overwinter.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Apr 6,2007 12:42pm
there was also a massive climate shift that changed a lot of coastal Europes climate forever. humans definitely arent helping climate shifting, but we are far from the cause.

Sure...but what is so fucking wrong about acknowledging that these things CONTRIBUTE to it, not to mention all kinds of other environmental problems, and trying to lessen the amount of damage we do? You right wing lunatics act like it's a fucking crime to conserve and try to leave less of a mark on the Earth. I know it's not as awesome and patriotic as war and everything, but I don't see the big liberal conspiracy about being more eco-conscious.

Do they exaggerate? Maybe, but you aren't a scientist...and as long as people with the credentials to tell me what effect things have on the Earth support the Global Warming thing, I will believe them over you. And them over Al Gore.

Not to mention I'd say exaggerating about doing good things for the Earth is considerably less threatening to me than say...exaggerating about a threat in Iraq...

I am a skeptic of the cause (or religion as it has become) that has subsequently been hijacked by the left blaming people for planetary warming when similar events on a much more grander scale have taken place through out the history of our planet long before combustible engines. I'm sure it's pretty obvious that I enjoy debate especially when it provokes thought regardless of whether either side convince the other of anything.

I don't think the point was that it's the sole cause, but it is a factor. If you add up the years that most of civilization has been using as many/much of the natural resources as it has been, and building 'bigger and better' things to use more of the resources, then the issue at hand may become obvious.

As for breathing, it's not too much of an issue. Trees and other plants breathe in the carbon dioxide that we breathe out, and then it emits the oxygen that we breathe in. But if people want to stop breathing, I have no issues with that.

Warmer winters may be a red flag. If you care to look up the statistics over the course of the past 10 years, you may notice a thing or two in comparison to say, 50 years ago. Most know that the planet constantly in a state of transition. It's the rate that [some] things are changing that is a concern.

True. But again, these things took place over the course of how many years?

I think the main thing is that it's happening faster than it typically would. Considering the ever growing population, that may be a concern to those that want to sustain life.

It's horseshit. We are not causing global warming. There are to many variables and idiots are making indirect correlations between burning of fossil fuels and global warming. These so called experts stated in the 1970's that emissions were responsible for global cooling. The climate is going through continuous change.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Apr 7,2007 11:42am
That's why I said I didn't know where I stood on Global Warming, but he wasn't convincing me that POLLUTION in general, is nothing to be concerned with.

In the meantime, while experts and idiots go back and forth about our planet's temperature...I don't mind hearing about ways to make less of a footprint. That may not cure global warming, but it can't hurt it either.
