not to sound cocky, but my own drummer in the body farm. i can guarantee that maybe 4 people from this entire board have ever heard him play, so he's sort of "undiscovered" in the metal scene. hopefully we'll get off our lazy asses to record/play some shows within the near future so people can actually hear what he can do.

i'll second chris helme and obviously darren cesca, and toss in devon from sexcrement-one of the most creative and groovy drummers i've had the experience to jam with, and ryan murphy formerly of dour cursiva. he was with the body farm for a few months and that kid can fucking play. excellent chops, control, speed, volume, and creativity.

toggletoggle post by jesus_of_nazareth  at Jun 10,2007 3:05pm

Some of favorites in no particular order.
Jay (Reverend Grundar)
Phil (Revocation)
Dane (Porphyria)
Jay (Abnormality, Goratory-Darren will never play with Jay's heart)
Chad (Eternal Suffering)
Mike (Bane of Existence)
Jeff (Hirudinea)
Johnny (Abhorred)
Seth (Hekseri)
Devon (Sexcrement)
Steve (Cythraul)
Mike (Godless Rising, Luekhorrea)
Ed (Deconformity)

I second that. Little Anthony (Coffin Birth, Dreaded Silence) is a pretty sick drummer, especially for his age. I can't wait to see how well he can play once he is old enough to drink.

Eric from Zircon is a really good drummer, too. Italian, food-obsessed, MILF-loving Anthony only plays with good drummers.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Jun 11,2007 7:04am
A couple lesser known favorites of mine are:

Joe - Hells Infinite VI (actually switched from drums to guitar)
Brian - Valasyrka, Hells Infinite VI (switched from guitar to drums)

then I have to agree with votes for: Little Anthony, Nick (L@Z), Dane, Seth and so many more. I give drummers credit, I can't play anything behind the kit

Cant say thats been 100 percent true, ESPECIALLY with previous Coffin Birth drummers. One thing that makes Little A soo good is how versatile he is. Hes played in like 4 bands in the past year and a half, and all of which were completly different sounding than the other. I had really only heard him playing in Pathogenic before I had actually seen him play, and took his word for it when he said he could play the Coffin Birth tunes.

ian definitely commands the fuck out of such a small kit. first time seeing pillory with him, i was in disbelief that he could pull off sounding anything like darren with that small kit.

i guess that douchebag phil dubois is okay at the drums. he's better at chugging semen though.

TheFilthyFaggothandler is pretty sick, I must admit. Darren is obv. nasty although hardly local anymore. Mike Read is a great drummer (Mechannibal), as is Jay (Aganihm/Unholy Trinity). Dane Porphyria, Ian Pillory, Christian from Deathamphetamine.. Devon from Sexcrement has a cool style; he knows how to rock the fuck out.

Personally, I would rank Jay from Goratory, Ian from Pillory, and Mike from Bane of Existence as my three local favorites.

Darren Cesca is a great drummer, but since Goratory/Pillory he hasn't really been in any bands I've been into. Also, The drummer from sexcrement impressed the hell out of me at the one show I saw him at.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Jun 11,2007 11:12pm

Tim from Nadir crushes shit. Kid's a monster.

toggletoggle post by t2daeek  at Jun 12,2007 2:03pm
Paul Dumas from Brake For Moose.
Most of you guys on this board probably wouldn't like the band, but this kid (having played in several drastically different groups with him) can play anything, and play anything really great. Funk, Jazz, Latin, Punk, Hardcore, Metal, Prog, you name it. and he can do it on a 10 piece or a 3 piece. Impeccable technique. great guy. no ego.

Matt Ponte from Hive Smasher.
I boast about my drummer quite frequently. You can't touch his feet. But then again, I've never seen anyone spend so much time refining their foot work. 16ths at 270. Hellhammer had to program 16ths at 290 on the new dimmu record, and he drops down to triplets live. Not to say that he's better than hellhammer, but he is only 20 and he's gonna get there. His drums actually sound good too.
Bob Leahy.
He's not really in a band right now that I know of, but the kid can flat out play. he doesn't put much stock into chops, but if you want someone to play something that rocks, he's the guy.

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at Jun 12,2007 2:17pm
