New site? Maybe some day.
I know dick about this shit but my brother asked me what would be better. He's been making a lot of stuff with FL Studio and wants to move on to bigger and better things.
Can any of you music nerds recommend any software? |
what's he looking for? something to actually make music in or something to record?
FL can pretty much do anything you want, but it gets a little tricky when trying to do fills and things of that nature because it has a graphic clef as opposed to actual notation. the possibilities are still there though as long as you can finagle a way to make it work |
it's hard to beat FL.
going from FL to REASON 1.0 was a wicked step backwards for me. I heard that they fixed a lot of the issues in REASON 2.0, but I never tried it. |
Ableton Live 7 or Reason 4 |
Fuck you all,
Tracktion 3 |
Making FL do triplets made me want to blow my brains out, I can tell you that much. I'm imagining the versions they have out now can do it a little more intuitively, though. |
tracktion 3 is out?!?!?! noway! i need to upgrade that shit |
wtf its a 200 dollar upgrade?!?!? |
I have a downloaded version of FL, I need to get a key gen or something so I can get the full version. I use it a lot. |
so whats the best out of all the ones listed thus far? Ive only use Fruity Loops |
I got the tracktion 3 project bundle for 100 dollars, that must be the other version for 200. |

once you get the hang of it it's easy. i did a song in FL the other day with triplets and it took me a while to size everything up right but once i did it went really fast |

the upgrade to V2 from V1 was 20 bucks... |

Well Reason doesn't record audio, it's basically a sequencer with a fuck load of synths (it does have a loop player / masher though)
Ableton Live does record audio, but its loop manipulation abilities far outshine its built-in synths, IMO. (there are cool extras you can buy, like Operator but that's more money)
I'm recording the new Hekseri demo on Logic Pro 7 (mac only) with drum machines from Reason 4.
*picks own nose* |
Thanks homies. I'll check some of this shizzle out. |
