Long story short, the motherboard has had loose components inside of it for about a month now. It stopped working today completely. After some hardware troubleshooting my office now smells like burnt hair. I need another laptop now. I'm thinking about just ordering a Latitude D830 and calling it a day.

Didn't you see the "DO NOT PLACE PHALLUS IN TRAY" sticker on the cd-drive?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 15,2008 2:09pm
jealous. I have a D620. I want a D830 for work so bad. just make sure you get the model with a 1920X1200 screen (it's an option) and more then 2gb ram possible.

This was a D600 actually, Aaron. I've always liked Latitudes. They're simple, whatever. And yeah I was looking at the options, I'd definitely go for the 1920x1200 res. I was thinking 2GB. Why would you suggest more than that? I won't be running Vista. I have 2GB on my new home machine and even with photoshop, torrents, all sorts of other apps & web shit running I never ever use all that memory.

Linux is for fagz.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Sep 15,2008 3:07pm
I can't use linux for desktop use. Servers only.

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Sep 15,2008 3:13pm
Macz are also for fagz. That's why I use a Mac. I don't know any other OS's besides the billion other Linux shits.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 15,2008 3:13pm
get 2GBs, but make sure that the motherboard supports up to 4 so you can upgrade in the future. make this laptop last you 3-4 years instead of 2.

OK. It has 2 slots for memory, I was originally going to say fuck it and just get 2 1GB sticks in it, but maybe i'll just eat it and pay a little extra to get a 2 gigger in 1 slot, leaving the other open.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 15,2008 4:00pm
either do that or get 512mb and buy your own 2gb.

I'd love a bluray player in a laptop. But that's big money I'm guessing.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 15,2008 4:12pm
BDR ftw! if they had 100GB BDr's and they were under $30/ea. and the recorder was under $600, I would have all my photos backed up on something non-magnetic.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 15,2008 4:58pm
YES... With the endeavor that I've started, this will be come more obvious. I was thinking more the emp from a nuke or alien invaders though.
