New site? Maybe some day.
At the end of the world in sullivan sq. Sommerville. It's saturday November the 15th. It's gonna be fun. If anyone wants directions/a ride, pm me. We are playing two sets, so it should be a good amount of music, i think there will be an opening band too. I will update about that later.
*rev-i tried to add it to the events page, but the venue isn't listed, and it seemed like i had to pick someplace from your pull down list. Could you help please?* |
can the vocalist pull off maynard's vocals?
i've seen a few tool bands in my time that had off-key vocals and I wanted to shoot myself |
he absolutely can. He's a trained opera singer. I swear to ya, he sounds just like em. He even just bought a TC helicon Voicelive, which is a all inclusive rackmount vocal processor. It has all the effects maynard uses, even the megaphone ones. I know it sounds real conceided, but as far as tool tributes go, we are definately the best in this area. I've seen the other ones, and their singers always a little (or a lot) off, and their drummer never has all the feels right. We do. |
I figured most people on here wouldn't, although there's gotta be some who do. Or at least i do, and i post on here so... ehhh, figured i'd post it. |
could you help me with the events page though? |
i fucking love Tool, but i'm very skeptical about someone doing his vocals. i've seen a few bands over the years try and fail miserably. even ones with good vocalists can't do that shit. |
you don't NEED to find it in the pull down.
just enter it in the location and pick the right state. |

while i understand your concern totally.... here lets put it this way.
Darkwar-can you confirm this statement please? "My singer Aaron is the closest thing to Maynard that isn't Maynard himself,"
Seriously Yeti, i've seen tool 25times, have a singed drumstick, i even sold weed to Danny Carey. I am obsessed. I love them as much as anyone i've ever met, and i am VERY picky about tribute bands. Especially Tool tributes. So when i tell you that he sounds just like Maynard, you can believe me. I promise man, I wouldnt make claims like that online on a site i post on 50 times a day if it werent true. If you wanna come to the show, i'll put you on guest list, and even buy you a beer, and then you can tell me how you feel. Every Tool obsessed person that has heard us so far has been really surprised by
A.the fact that my singer sounds like em
B.that i can handle his drumming.
And man, i know the more i write, the more conceided i sound, but this tribute band has been a work in progress for a while, and is sort of an all star cast of some of the best musicians i know. We all have equipment that is almost identical to the real band too. Our guitar player doesn't have a deisel, but he has every pedal, even the hard to find vintage ones, an almost identical les paul, our bass player has a pedal board that he made with about 3000 worth of effects on it, (i mean the digitech bass whammy that justin C. uses is real rare and was about 700 used, and he still got that one, and not a knock off) and my drums are real bubinga just like DCs. We for real son, obviously it's not like seeing tool play live, but i would be happy to put us up against any other tribute. |
i've seen them practice. i'm not one to exaggerate, they sound just like tool. period. the singer is classically trained and just so happens to have a very similar voice to maynard's. everything subtle that tool does with the string effects, vocals, and percussion, they do. and now that jim has a real drum throne, and not a computer chair from 1991, it's almost like they're the real deal. |
and plus, the singer's got an awesome tattoo of a particular molecule... right? |
and while i haven't seen any other tool tribute bands, i don't think it's possible to sound more like tool than these guys do. Aaron does have a very heavenly voice, and i'll say that right to his face |

that's right sir, he has the DMT molecule tattooed on his arm. Which caused a little issue when me and him were arrested for.... oh yeah, having DMT. haha. |
Jim what's the set list? I am also skeptical but I am like that with everything, period. I don't think you'd have a problem doing the drums, but to sound like maynard, that's a tall order. I'd actually like to check it out. Early tool is the only "non" kvlt/krieg/uber metal guilty pleasure I have.

And the drum throne i might add, was a present from a really good friend of mine for my birthday, it friekin rules. It's a porkpie, the kind with memory foam inside, and it's shiny silver (vinyl i think) on the side, and real soft velour-ish top. It's awesome. |

I really am not almost anything that's on the radio myself, but i've always loved tool. |

YES!!!!!!!!! I vote for One Inch Man or Demon Cleaner! |

ha, probably not jim. haha. We are thinking about doin "No Quarter" the same way that tool does it. And we definately wanna do third eye, and the salival version of "pushit" but we can't get ahead of ourselves. Even their easy songs have so many little intricacies that if we don't do em perfect, the real fans will rip us apart. So they take a damn long time. I HATE when people cover tool songs poorly. It hurts. |
but if any of you guys can make the show, PM me and i'll get ya in for free. (obviously this is a first come first serve offer, i can't get 30 people in for free, but i doubt that many people from on here will actually go. So if you wanna go, and don't wanna pay, let me know.) Because even though most tribute's only goal is money, we all love the music so much, we just wanna play it for people. |
i week and 1 day away. I am pretty excited about this. I think we have all of the songs we planned on getting for this show, although we are still a little rough with lateralus, I think this week will be enough time to polish it up. |
sounds rad. i'm a big fan. |
i hate tool, and i am going to see Jim Norton in boston that night.
but in all seriousness, Jim and Aaron are my boys, and brewin buddies, have an excellent show fuckers!!!

if ya can't get a ride, i can always have you meet me in boston, ride with me to attleboro, and get one of my friends to drive you to new bedford. |

Fuckismysig- Can you maybe make it? |
SATURDAY!! It's gonna rule. |
I love Tool and all but I think there are way too many tributes to them. |

hahahah....my word is all i got
well mr immortal, come see us on saturday, if you don't think we sound just like Tool, your drinks are on me. Fact. |
wait....ya know what, fuck that. I know we sound like tool, and so does everyone who's heard us, and that alone will get us better and better draws, so buy your own damn drinks.....
(the nerve of this asshole looking for free drinks)
(wait a minute i offered....ok well i retracted.) |
It's all about Pushit. You guys should cover that. |
we will add that to the list. It will be played next show. as of now, we have our two hour-long sets set in stone. We have all the non-song parts cued up on a sampler so that we can seemlessly transition between songs. |
Show went really well. Great reaction from people, pretty good turn out, and all in all, a lot of fun. |
