MYSPACE MUSIC EXCLUSIVELY PREMIERES MASTODON'S NEW ALBUM "CRACK THE SKYE"

Fans Can Stream the Entire Album Now Before Official Street Date

MySpace Music, the world's leading online music portal, proudly presents Mastodon's new album "Crack the Skye." MySpace users can now stream the entire album exclusively for free before it goes on sale on March 24. The new album is available for full streaming by visiting the band's official MySpace Music profile at http://www.myspace.com/mastodon.

"Crack the Skye" is the fourth full-length album from the Atlanta-based, Grammy-nominated band and was produced by Brendan O'Brien (Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, AC/DC). Continuing to employ a conceptual framework to their songwriting, Mastodon's "Crack the Skye" is an apt successor to its widely-received, genre-crossing "Blood Mountain" album of 2006, marrying mythology with mathematical Metal to stunning results. Mastodon is currently touring North America on its Shockhound.com-sponsored "Crack the Skye" tour.

For more information about Mastodon, and to stream their new album, please visit: http://www.myspace.com/mastodon.

MySpace Music revolves around the millions of major, indie, and unsigned artists that use their MySpace music profiles to communicate and intimately connect with fans and friends. Each music profile empowers artists to upload video content, blog, post tour dates, lyrics, and make their music available to fans for stream or download. As one of the most popular and highly trafficked music platforms in the world, MySpace Music has evolved into an offline experience by connecting bands and fans on a global level through various concert series and live events.

Tracklisting for "Crack the Skye" is as follows:

1. Oblivion
2. Divinations
3. Quintessence
4. The Czar: I Usurper, II Escape, III Martyr, IV Spiral
5. Ghost Of Karelia
6. Crack The Skye

have you heard the first two records

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Mar 19,2009 10:15pm
Probably not. The only one I've heard is Leviathan and I didn't like it.

this sounds like leftover tracks from blood mountain, with even gayer vocals. almost every riff completely lacks balls, and it sounds like the drummer stopped giving a shit. a couple cool parts, but few and far between. overall = fucking yawn

the lifesblood ep and remission are both great fucking releases. much heavier than leviathan

leviathan was their black album and was full of rock radio tunes and then it just went down hill from their on blood mountain and yeah i agree this new record sounds like leftover tracks with even gayer then gay vocals.

From what I hear there will be 2 sets, the first will be the new album, the second will be all old shit

i'm listening to crack the skye for the first time right now. one of my friends who loves mastodon told me last night that he couldn't get into it.

i'm three songs in and it's not as bad as i thought it was going to be. i actually kind of like it so far. lifesblood and remission are my favorites by them. i liked leviathan and didn't really get into blood mountain. i thought the vocals were going to suck, but i think some of them are good on the new one. vocals have never really been mastodon's focus and while i think the vocals on crack the skye have more dimension and variety, i think they are trying to steal the focus from the music. i'm with everyone who is disappointed by the drumming. there's not really any frenetic, creative drumming on this album so far, which i always considered one of the strongest points of the band.

vocals on the czar sound like a bad ozzy.

They have HORRIBLE singing voices. Why do they sing more and more with each album. I like Mastodon when they stuck the mono-syllable screams.

i just got this and i must say i REALLY enjoy it. songs have a great flow to them and keep the intensity throughout. i can understand why some dont like it though.

It's called progression. I just got it and it took 2 listens for it to sink in. Not as good Blood Mountain but Mastodon deserves to get lazy on a record. Next one will be better hopefully.

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Apr 10,2009 11:30pm
umm it's music, no band deserves the rite to get lazy. that's the lamest thing i've ever heard. fuck this record, fuck this band, it's their load record and they suck now.

I enjoy the album, and that's all have to say about that
